Episode 48 of The Mix Tape Podcast is now available for download ! Sliding things open for us this week is the strangely beautiful Animal Collective remix of Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Zero. Sounding more like an AC track with Karen O vocals than a remix in itself, this one deserves some thought. Then we change gears with new material from Amanda Blank (featured with Spank Rock amongst other things). The female rapper lays it all on the line with some startlingly frank lyrics... [...]

Photography by Ruedi Nice.... now here's some spacey, dancey pop, be-yoooo! be-yooo! (my laser sound effects), I can get behind (sorry Justice )! Wave Machines and their little gem Wave If You're Really There ... Part dance-ala-MGMT (I imagine you will here that reference alot in all the reviews that will be coming down the pipe) and part art-poppy goodness, Wave Machines walk the balancing act between becoming a hyped-club-throwaway and being a, uh, [...]

Art rock disco made on a Cash Converter keyboard and start up drum kit, that's how Wave Machines describe themselves. Hailed from Liverpool, Wave Machines create a fragile pop, built on glitchy bass lines and falsetto vocals. Think of the love child of Hot Chip, with a little essence of Architecture In Helsinki. Lead single " Keep The Lights On " from debut "Wave If You're Really There" is a [...]

Wave Machines - Keep The Lights On (achat sur [...]

You've heard this song already. But I've heard it 10 times today, and I have to blog it. It's awesome, and the 70s are becoming awesome (again). Nu-disco is going to be HUGE this year, and I hope to hear more from Wave Machines. Download audio file (Wave Machines - Keep The Lights On.mp3) No tags for this post.

04.15.2009 To counterbalance the last massive post, I will keep it short...Here u like pop tune from Wave Machines. free. GOOD! Think Scissor Sisters... Keep The Light On http://www.myspace.com/mywavem achine http://www.wavemachines.co.uk/

Who : Wave Machines from Liverpool. What : You might want to put these guys on your radar. Some parts Hot Chip , some parts Beta Band and just the right amount of falsetto. Song : Keep The Lights On . Get it from their homepage . Want more? Try the I Go I Go I Go .

Wave Machines' "Keep The Lights On" is the perfect track for right this second. Lofi nu-disco that sounds pulled straight from midnight radio to your headphones. This track could be the love child of Hot Chip and Hail Social, but it's done better. Love totes. Guarantee you'll be playing it on repeat until your sick of it, but no worries... Wave Machines' debut album will be out June 09 full of new songs to play on repeat. Wave Machines - "Keep The Lights On" (via Wave Machines' website - [...]
I've just received my copy of the debut album from Wave Machines. It's called 'Wave If You're Really There' and it's out sometime in June. I don't think I've been this excited about an album since 'Viva La Vida' last summer. Astronomical? What an understatement.
For our friends at SXSW, my pick for Wednesday night is the Chess Club showcase at Friends. Think tons of great bands, capped off by the seriously amazing Mumford & Sons (who put on my favorite live show of 2008). Chess Club Showcase: 8:00pm: The Week That Was ( Myspace // "Learn to Learn" [mp3]) 9 :00 pm: Come On Gang! ( Myspace [...]

I apologize for how long its taken to get to this last installment for SXSW , but I hope you've found solace in all the other posts we've been able to put out lately! Busy times for us here at Knox Road, that's for sure. Anyway, as promised, here are the final highlights and mp3s of the U-Z SXSW artists to prepare you for the upcoming Austin event. Anything you want to point out that I missed, leave a comment and let me know! So, um...see you next year (if you only came here for [...]

If there was any reason for me to love scousers even more than I already do then Wave Machines are surely it. Described by some as lo-fi art disco, Wave Machines are simply the best live band I've seen in a long time. All four band members wear masks of themselves while playing live, swap lead vocals and play a range of live instruments, including clarinet, ukulele, malletkat, zither, electro vibraphone and synth-bass. I was lucky enough to catch them last year playing at their single launch at the Royal Albert Hall and wowzers were [...]

These are not only the best band in Liverpool. These are not only the best band known to England's north-west. These are the best alternative popular music posse in Europe. So, to transmute the sapient script of reality TV 'star' Lemar, "If there's any justice in the world, the debut album by Wave Machines will knock the socks off every living pulse in the sovereign state, lead to numerous sell-out headlining stints at Wembley Stadium, and make the band scrillions upon frillions of pounds". That ol' English quirk of keeping your true feelings locked inside one's head shimmers through the [...]

And so yet a further twelve months pass by busy-bodied with heartbreaking band splits, horribly packaged 'indie' fellowships looting the limelight from Death Cab, and a damned sorry record from The Automatic. Ah jeezabloodyloo. Just why do we put ourselves through such a trying musical game of hopelessness and aggravation? Because it's the best darn thing since slice bread. That's why. First up for Shout And Twist's marshal-up of 2008 is the pivotal proclamation of 'Shout And Twist's Favourite Liverpool Band Of The Year' : Wave Machines [...]
This is the Bay Of Sirens. It contains two monsters.

Το ντεμπούτο τους single με τίτλο I go, I go, I go έχει και αυτό, όπως αρκετά από τα τραγούδια που παρουσιάσαμε τελευταία, ένα πραγματικά καταπληκτικό κιθαριστικό riff, το οποίο βέβαια όλο και κάτι θυμίζει, θα μου [...]
ACTH is a British project. Well, it started as a party then became a project and then a label. Something like that. Correct me if I'm wrong. They define themselves as "cosmic melody, fantasy rhythm, ghetto superstars, mutant bass". Enough to be good, isn't it? In the list of bands that had took part of ACTH [...]

WAVE MACHINES I GO I GO I GO Petite découverte en me baladant sur myspace (remember myspace?), ce nouveau groupe de Liverpool. Un peu comme avec les Magistrates il y a quelques semaines, le son n'est pas terrible terrrible, mais ça mérite une écoute...! www.myspace.com/mywavemachine
