If news of the New Guantanamo Coachella party didn't get you fired up, here are a few other unavoidable groaners from the week. You had throne-watcher supreme Jay-Z's "Open Letter" over the contrived Cuba trip-White House kerfuffle hype, then your boy RiFF RAFF is slated to guest on the soap "One Life to Live" as a self-referential art slinger named Jamie Franko as a nod to the Spring Breakers actor Alien (whose character was modeled after RiFF by director Harmony Kor...

Way Yes is Glenn Davis, Travis Hall, and Max Lewis. So far they've released two EPs that blend airy electronics and world music rhythms with fine songwriting. They will release their debut LP Tog Pebbles on May 7, 2013 via Lefse Records. "Colerain" has been spinning with regularity since I heard it. It's wonderful to hear a band that manages to bring some diverse sounds together in such a natural, off the cuff way. "Get Healed" is another tune layered with drums, samples, guitar, and vocals that never clash together messily. There seems to be [...]

Hit play. There's something about the first time you hear a song. The way it permeates your brain. Vibrating your particles. Snaking through your synapses until it's found a meaningful place to reside, or just shaking straight out the other ear into the ether, it all depends on your perspective. Sometimes you hear a song at precisely the right moment. All the stars of coincidence align to provide you with exactly what you need to hear. The fundamental forces of the universe conspire in glorious synergy. Everything clicks into place. Everything makes [...]

Way Yes plays indie pop that has influences that seem to stretch from Explosions in the Sky to World Music and several other things under the sun. They will release their debut LP Tog Pebbles on May 7, 2013 via Lefse Records. Way Yes got a little bit of attention last year for a pretty interesting debut LP that was called Walkability . It's kind of difficulty to describe the band's song, but it's pretty easy to pick up what makes them a bit different. They've also got a great sense of humor, [...]

This isn't typically a song that would be up my alley, but I'm going to go out on a limb a bit here and share this new track that I'm kind of finding irresistible. The track in question is called "Colerain" and comes our way from Ohio based pop group Way Yes . I'm drawn towards the interesting tribal style percussion going on and the soothing nature that warrants many repeats through the speakers. Hopefully you can see what I'm talking about after a couple of listens. New album Tog Pebbles is out May 7th on [...]

sembra prefigurarsi un debutto molto promettente quello della formazione indie pop Way Yes , intitolato Tog Pebbles (la bella copertina qui sopra è un’illustrazione di John Malta ) ed in uscita il prossimo 7 Maggio, di cui possiamo anticipare qui il brano di apertura: Colerain by Way Yes

The Banter Media guys sent over this shiat from Way Yes , a sort of experimental-pop band from Columbus, Ohio. I like it. Way Yes - Colerain
Happy Friday everyone! I don't know about you, but this one seems particular welcome. It's the first Friday of Spring, the sun is shining (at least in New York!), SXSW fever is over and it's time to relax. To help, we've got free tunes for you as usual, starting with ...

Ever since their song "Important" made its way onto the guerolitoplaylist 01|12, the smooth indie-pop of Ohio natives Way Yes has given me a lot of chill times. Their new tune "Colerain" , an ode to their hometown, makes no exception - even pampering us with over six minutes of gorgeousness. Their new album Tog Pebbles will be out digitally in May on Lefse . mp3 | Colerain ---- [...]

Here's "Colerain" from Way Yes' upcoming digital LP Tog Pebbles . The track is named for and dedicated to Colerain township in Ohio, the band's hometown, and is beaming with warm percussion and soft strings - a perfectly smooth sound for an ode to home. Check out the tune and the Tog Pebbles tracklist below. Read More...
Favorite Songs of 2012: Part 1 (100-51) You will have to take these list rankings with a grain of salt, because although I tried my best to accurately arrange the tracks, I change it every time I listen to one of the songs. I also only included my favorite song from each artist, so there are no doubles (except for I think one person, but they were part of two different groups). A few songs are also technically from before 2012, but they all appear on albums or [...]

Words by Brendan We're fully in the midst of autumn now, with beautiful leaves and cool days and pumpkin spices in the air. (It can't be just me, right? Is my nose just wishfully smelling?) What better way to warm up on a cold weekend evening than to head to a local watering hole, order up a fall seasonal brew, and enjoy some awesome live music? This weekend, there are several excellent opportunities to do just that: Goldenboy and the aptly-named Cold Weather at the Brillobox tonight, [...]

I try to recommend new releases the week they are released. Some albums slip by me, though, and deserve recognition once I’ve heard them. This is one of those albums. Way Yes – Walkability [EP] | CD MP3 Download “Important”...
