I don't remember too much about yesterday. I had one of those nasty head colds. It felt like I was at a move theater, watching my life up on the big screen. I wasn't so much a participant, just a casual observer. I think at one point I observed myself running for 17 miles. At another I drifted from one hospital pavilion to another (four times over) in the company of a bunch of pregnant women. There may have been a moment or two where I was walking on all fours pulling third rank in a pack that included an [...]

The VPME F.U.R.S This is the début single from F.U.R.S (released March 25th 2013 on Loose Lips Records) and is a prime example of how write bright and breezy psyche-pop without reinventing the wheel. We know of a few bands who tried to reinvent said wheel and d'ya know what? They were shite. Sometimes boundary pushing and so called innovation is overrated and F.U.R.S. do what they do with great skill and an easy charm, it's also called 'Striptease' So what's not to like ? [...]

Having previously been named Steve Lamacq’s ‘unsigned band of the week’ on his BBC 6Music show and garnered some serious praise elsewhere, Waylayers release their new single 'Magnets' tomorrow. Well-polished, electro-tinged indie-pop that moulds Two Door Cinema Club and Bastille, 'Magnets' is a promising return for the young group. The video, which you can view below, was directed by Alex James who has previously worked with the likes of The Maccabees, Klaxons, La Roux & James Blake. Watch it below.

East Londoners WAYLAYERS now have a video out for their magnificent single “Magnets”. This divine piece of danceable indie rock explodes with life, and once that anthemic chorus in, check yourself immediately for goosebumps. Instead of being bored by their levitating abilities, the band figures out that there is an unseen beauty that these floating devices possess. Obviously, we all connect in one way or another. Haven’t you seen Cloud Atlas yet? The single will be released digitally on November 26th.

Waylayers ' last song on SOIWT, S.O.S (Leave Alone) , was a great big soaring epic, all heavenly pop choruses and synthtastic highs. And Waylayers' new song on SOIWT, Magnets , is a great big soaring epic, all heavenly pop choruses and synthtastic highs. Haha. Actually, i'm being disingenuous: on Magnets , the highs aren't quite as high and the soars a bit less soaring. That doesn't make it less good, though; in fact - like the girl who won't kiss me on the first date, like the book I have to work to get [...]
The British indie-electro-pop trio WAYLAYERS unveil the video for their new single Magnets. If you like electric guitars sounding similar to FOALS and eighties wave-tunes then you should definitely listen to this track. WAYLAYERS are Harry Lee (vocals, synths), Dave Norman (bass) and Joe Andrews (guitar) and together they make catchy music-often described as atmospheric pop. The

An enormous introduction, East Londoners Waylayers breach into the pop view finder with latest single, "Magnets." With shades of the chillwave fever - hell, they even say "I feel fields all around me," which is more than enough for Earnest Greene to cry, "Derivation!" - and shades of the angular pop music of Foals and Two Door Cinema Club , "Magnets" is an upbeat and unselfconscious record about connection and connecting. Ostensibly concerning finding "magnets" within and getting in touch with the "fields" all around us, Waylayers stomp their way to [...]

New Ivory have smashed their way to the top spot on our 'Track of the year' for 2011. They first caught our eyes way back in early June, here is the original post. They won with 345 votes out of the 1045 cast. A close second place is the best performing international act for the second year running, and third was a close battle between two bands that are very close to each others hearts, Safari and VOWS. Here is a run down [...]

You've made it - our top 25 songs of 2011 are right here.
