This is something that I've been looking forward to for a while now. Art Brut are one of my favourite bands of recent years, and I quite like We Are Scientists, even if I felt they have never lived up to their potential. Anyway, the two bands are touring together in the US at the moment under the banner of 'The Also-Ran Buzz Bands Tour'. Seeing these two together would be pretty cool in itself, but they have gone a step further and have released a tour only single where they cover a song from the other [...]
I love this junk shop glam rock discotheque... We will really miss our regular gig at the Chain Drive -- including our ability to play everything from Herb Alpert to The Stranglers to Luxxury to Marlene Dietrich and whatever else strikes our fancy. Strike this item off that list of things to do before we die: We had a dj residency at a leather bar. And I think they loved us -- we sure loved them. Thanks, guys! Here's the setlists, complete with links to songs we may have written about/posted in the past. Because we're nice like that. [...]

In the past, I have been letting you in on who is playing where around Austin, from the big boys to the guys from just up the road and giving a one line blip of what to expect, if even that. Time to shake things up a bit. I will still mention what is worthy (in my opinion) of seeing, but I will also take a few of the locals playing during the week that, from what I heard and read, impressed me and fill in a little more detail about them. There is [...]

Remember what I said about blogger's remorse? Posting on a band now past their hype just because I liked them before this blog started? Well I don't know about you but We Are Scientists are always in season, so even though they sort of fall into that blogger's remorse bit, I'd like to think that they don't. I think it was Skatterbrain Matt that mentioned how the bands you love most are hardest to blog about, and surprisingly enough, it's true so bear with me on this one. We Are Scientists is composed of three rather [...]

It may be a waste to post this on a Sunday...This is a great post and Sunday is traditionally low traffic. But I just can't wait. I'm bustin! This may be one of the best live indie bands around right now. They bring incredible energy and wit to their performances, and in this show they even bring a pet Arctic Monkey! Some of the cuts are off by a [...]

In an effort to talk about more bands recently, I just realized I havn't written about one of my favorite bands. That band would be the We Are Scientists. It's rock, it's catchy, it's pop-ish, its fun. To date I have seen them two times and soon to be a third on one of their stops in their huge tour of doom. If you like, dance rock, rock, Hard-Fi, Bloc Party, The Presets, The Killers, and a slew of others... you will like We Are Scientists. Instead [...]

They're splitting a single, says NME . I want it! "The song we're doing for the split is 'Bang Bang Rock & Roll'," We Are Scientists' Keith Murray told NME.COM. "I'm hesitant to discuss what our approach for it is at this point, since part of what this whole cover split project has turned into for both bands is essentially an opportunity to blow each others' minds when the songs are eventually revealed in their finished forms." Art Brut seems to be doing a cover of "The Great Escape." Also, [...]
Space Shuttle Old Yeller landed safely this morning with its crew all in one piece. Well, technically speaking, the crew is in in six pieces. USA Today reported recently on the traditional alarm clock NASA uses to wake the buggers out of their slumber. NASA pipes in songs chosen by their loved ones back on terra firma . The Billboard chart of top tunes goes something like this: 1. Off We Go into the Wild Blue Yonder, 13 times 2. Anchors Aweigh, 12 times 3. The Marine Corps [...]
