I first arrived at the Troubadour around 6:30pm. It was an hour and a half til doors and there was already a line around the block! I had only heard one or two songs from these guys prior to this show and I didn't have much of an idea of what to expect. ~SEE WE ARE SCIENTIST LIVE ~ I missed both the opening acts, including Rewards who everyone raved about after the show. However, We Are Scientist was put a lot [...]
#mwag just sent me this video of a sweet acoustic version of "Lethal Enforcer" by We Are Scientists . enjoY!
A new video for We Are Scientists' I Don't Bite , off their newest album Barbara , has surfaced. This track totally reminds me of some of the older Arctic Monkeys stuff, its totally grabbing, and the album Barbara is definitely worth a few listens. Buy Barbara
For my inaugural post here, I wanted to try to explore the workout potential of some of the music recently covered. Namely, I tried to put together a playlist that shows which songs by which folks would likeliest accompany someone going for a jog. It was a mixed success, as most of the current crop is better suited to a brisk walk. With the exception of a pair of blazing tracks from Jamaica and We Are Scientists, most of the music I stumbled across fell into the 120-130 range. But, at the [...]

Filed under: Video of the Day Artist: We Are Scientists Video: 'Rules Don't Stop' Highlight: "For years, we've listened to our straight-laced detractors say, 'These jerks need to learn how to follow the rules' and 'Even perfectly reasonable rules don't stop these jerks.' The words stung, but deep down we knew that if we changed, if we started observing rules and regulations, we'd always regret it," Chris Cain of We Are Scientists tells Spinner. "Finally, through the miracle of art, we've been [...]

"A dog is very easy to break, but cats make you work for their affection. They don't sell out the way dogs do." I was thinking about how indie band's obsession with cats (at least 5 indie albums from this year alone have the domestic felines on the cover) and then I thought about the above quote spoken by Robert De Niro in Meet The Parents . Are cats the indie to dogs' mainstream? They certainly are the less popular, less accessible and arguably quirkier of the two pets. Food for thought. Anyway, all this kitty albums craze (and being that today is [...]
Hey Party Peeps! We Are Scientists are coming to seattle on the 28th to Neumos . Buy tickets ($15) Their most recent album " Barbara " is their 3rd release and has gotten mixed reviews around the net. It reminded me of the good ol' days when pop-punk blink-182 and jimmy-eat-world were at the heart of teenage girls. speaking of teenage girls, I bet there will be quite a few at this concert.... now i feel old. I've seen We Are Scientists several times in the past, but I've never had the opportunity to hear them play an acoustic show. Their set at Sound Fix Records, in support of their recently-released third album, Barbara, was a fantastic performance of stripped-down versions (Max was absent as well) of a few songs from the [...]
Wednesday night's gig showcased the vast majority of their sensational new LP, Barbara, alongside a bevy of classic tracks from their earlier releases. Highly enjoyable from start to finish. Official TMS Rating: 9/10. Be sure to watch 'Nice Guys' here. In May, We Are Scientists dropped by TMS TV. View more photographs & download a [...]

I have loved We Are Scientists since they first released Love and Squalor in 2006. After 4 years I was finally able to go see them live with my girl who is a even bigger fan than me. It was pretty cool because I had never seen them perform and was not disappointed at all. The trio played a mix of their old stuff and new stuff, but I did notice that the crowd was much more pleased with the older tracks. In between the songs, Keith and Chris would talk to each other make jokes and interact [...]

It's been almost 4 years exactly since I saw We Are Scientists at Roseland Ballroom opening for Arctic Monkeys. That was the first, and also the last, time I have ever seen the guys play live. Thankfully I had the opportunity to play catch-up on their live performance last night at The Bowery Ballroom. The opener was Rewards , the solo project of Chairlift's guitarist, Aaron Pfenning. If you remember, Keith Murray mentioned them when we interviewed him earlier this year. Dev Hynes, a.k.a. Lightspeed Champion accompanied him. With no drummer, his set [...]
