I'm confused. It's Thanksgiving in Canada, so everywhere is closed; but it's Columbus Day south of the border, so how come all of the American news outlets are posting stories? Oh well, so much the better for me, since I've written a handful of Exclaim! news stories. Here's the news single from Canuck pop duo We Were Lovers . It's called "We've Got It," and it's a dreamy dance tune that's steeped in disco-dazzled synths and '80s-tinged romance. This comes from the band's debut album, due out in spring 2012.
If you're looking for something to do tonight and tomorrow, you should consider catching Canadian indie electro act We Are Lovers as they pull into Toronto for a pair of shows. The band play tonight at The Horseshoe and tomorrow night at Rancho Relaxo as they prepare to release their new album early in 2012. Later this week they have gigs in Peterborough, Kingston, and Ottawa. Check out the

Apologies for sitting on this one in my inbox, you should have heard this weeks ago. "We've Got It" is the first single off the anticipated new album from We Were Lovers , due out Spring 2012. Featuring "dancey beats, swirling atmospheric guitars, and dynamic synths" along the lines of "Stevie Nicks-meets-The Cure pop", the duo Ash Lamothe and Elsa Gebremichael are looking to hit hard with their followup to their Oct. 2010 self-titled EP. A band that is no stranger to the road, they'll be previewing new material in their dates across North America this October / November surrounding [...]

We've Got It is a little taste of an album that will be coming out Spring 2012. It's a dance track with some soul to put you in some kind of nostalgic trance. We Were Lovers- We've Got It

WE WERE LOVERS are in town this week at UNKNOWN PLEASURES and it's looking to be an alright show. If you're unfamiliar, I'd suggest reversing that trend. The Saskatoon duo hit dance floors at various angles and reminds me a bit of 2003 when "indie dance" was all the rage. I'm not trying to draw direct comparisons here, but the thing is, their songs are bouncy and stringy at the same time and pair well with New Order and The Cure, or if you prefer your pick of something [...]

We Were Lovers are a pop rock duo from Canada who are starting to create quite a stir with their fresh, energetic tunes. I stumbled upon them a few days ago and immediately fell in love, but it was only till today when I was on the tube did I decide to write a post on them. There is something about them that is so interesting and enticing, but I can't really put my finger on it. I'll leave it up to you. They are currently touring the US and having recently finished recording their debut album [...]

I love finding new music on blogs and from friends, but my favorite way to discover a new band is by just happening to see them live. Watching a band tells you almost everything you need to know about them, in my opinion, and it can really define how you perceive them. This was the case with the indie, pop duo We Were Lovers from Canada. I was in San Diego at Beauty Bar to see LexiconDon play and Fabian's DJ set and lucky for me WWL hit the stage right before. Ash and [...]

For a shut-in such as moi, the main joyride is the cornucopia of songs the festival makes available at its splendid website. As some of you might have noticed, we've already posted a few of our favorites (c. 45), but we've got plenty more to go. If we didn't suffer the onus of

We are back in full swing here on the Great Canadian Mixtape Project and honestly, hats off to you Saskatchewan. Not only did you come through with a ton of quality tracks, you really personified the reasons we started this thing. When we stumbled on an act we wanted to include, it was followed up with three or four suggestions of other bands that deserved to be heard. Saskatchewan really has a terrific collection of artists, and runs the gambit when it comes to style. The pop stylings of Maybe Smith (who offered up [...]
