Art by Sachin Teng Hello Lovelies! Hope everyone had a great week! This past one was kind of slow for me as I only made it out to one show but it was pretty great! There were two local Toronto bands, Ohmno and Actual Water both of which I'll definitely be checking out again very soon. The third band on the bill was The Beets from New York and man oh man they were killer!! I hadn't given them a listen beforehand and glad I [...]

Filed under: News , New Releases Ian Gavan, Getty Images Jack White is expanding the Third Man Records family with the addition of up-and-comers Pokey and the South City Three and We Are Hex to the fold. White will release singles from both groups in March as part of the label's 'Blue Series,' a move which should cheer up fans still upset about the White Stripes ' official demise . [...]

We Are Hex From: Indianapolis, Indiana, United States Indianapolis quartet We Are Hex (first featured on the Devil's blog way back in April 2009, It's A Kinda Magic ) have been keeping themselves busy these last few months. They've released their acclaimed sophomore album "Hail The Goer" , on (My Old Kentucky Blog's) Roaring Colonel Records , and toured their asses off. [...]
Welcome back, kiddos! Most music industry folks turned off their laptops over the holiday break, meaning we didn't have much new music to fill our last two weekly mixtapes. But with everyone now back online and our inbox once again overwhelmed with quality new sounds, we return the first Friday of a January 2011 with a mix that'll surely make up for the last two weeks. Below, you'll find this week's best new singles and remixes, Cover Me 's favorite new covers, and a batch of mp3s from up and comers you just might want to check out. Contributing [...]
Chicago's Secret Colours have just released a brand new, sonically delectable single. The psychedelic pop-rockers dropped "Follow the Drone" earlier today on their bandcamp page with the slow burning B-side "Lust (Slow)". "Follow the Drone" lives up to it's name and opens with a heavy, droning riff before mammoth drums, hazy vocals and sitar-esque guitars soon follow. It's a groove-heavy rocker that's arena rock ready. Listen to "Follow the Drone" at the left. Also, don't have to wait long to (likely) see "Follow the Drone" in action. Secret Colours are headlining a [...]

The Indianapolis quartet We Are Hex have been quite busy these last few months: releasing their acclaimed sophomore album Hail The Goer on (My Old Kentucky Blog's) Roaring Colonel Records , and touring like crazy to promote it. Today the band is happy to announce that they have been invited to record a new 73 with Jack White, to be released this year on his label Third Man Records . The as-of-yet untitled 73 will be recorded in White's Nashville studio this month, though no release date is currently scheduled. [...]

You know my love for Apteka knows no bounds. This Chicago band has enthralled me with their hard-hitting, guitar and searing sounds. I try to hit all their shows, although I've been remiss of late. Saturday night is my chance to redeem myself and in a big way! They're hitting the Subterranean Lounge with another great local group who I can't believe I've not yet heard, Secret Colours. Now, THIS is a gig to shake off that winter cold, people! If there's two bands whose sound is made for each other, it's [...]

Do you know what makes us happy in 2011? Free stuff, that's what. And while it's fun to go through supermarket bins to get our hands on stale bread and cheesecake that's past its sell-by date, we much prefer free music. Thanks then to We Are Hex, who have given us a nice little sample of their album 'Hail the Goer'. 'We Are the Goer' is a sleazy piece of rock that is right down our alley. Going on this it's not surprising that the band have attracted the interest of Jack White, and are set to record a 7'' [...]

The band has been invited to record a new 73 with White, in his Nashville studio, to be released later this year on his label. In celebration of this news We Are Hex have released a new video for album cut " We Are The Goer " (found on their RCR [...]
