So, its come down to me. This is the last installment of Our Favorite Songs of All Time list and if you haven't already, please check out everyone else's posts, they're great. I knew this was going to be difficult because there is an insane amount of music out there and since we were doing a list based on OUR favorite songs, nothing based off of other critics reviews or other lists, it made it that much more difficult. I built a list of songs based off of my favorite albums, I'd pick a song from a favorite album of [...]

Don't get me started on Weezer . Who knows what to say about them anymore. Rivers Cuomo seems to be doing just fine. He has a new side-project with Scott Murphy, formerly of the band Allister. They're releasing an album called Scott & Rivers that is almost sung entirely in Japanese. They released a video for first single "Homely Girl", which is sung in both English and Japanese, and to be honest, it's easily better than most of what Weezer has put out in the last decade. [...]

Back in the day, Rivers Cuomo was an ocean apart from that 18-year-old girl who live in small city of Japan. Today, though, she's 35 and Cuomo is releasing a Japanese-language album. Cuomo teamed up with Scott Murphy, of Chicago pop-punk act Allister, to record Scott & Rivers , the eponymous debut from Scott & Rivers, for Delicious Deli, a Japanese imprint of Universal Records. The album is out now, and you can check out its first single, "Homely Girl," below. It sounds like a Weezer B-side sung in Japanese. Listen. Read More...

Los dos ya tiene un disco homónimo debut en iTunes el cual está compuesto en japonés, en su mayor parte. Aunque suene extraña esta historia, no lo es, ya que Rivers Cuomo ha tenido durante mucho tiempo una [...]

Surprise, surprise, Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo continues to confuse the hell out of everyone. This time around, he's gone ahead and started a new band alongside Alister frontman Scott Murphy , which he's aptly dubbed, Scott and Rivers. The two already have a self-titled debut album out on iTunes , and here's the twist: the majority of it's in Japanese. So, how and why is this happening? Well, it doesn't take a Weezer historian to know that Cuomo has long had an affinity with Japanese culture, given his past lyricism [...]

>> The fact that we haven't bought a Tullycraft record since the release of 1999's singles compilation (fittingly titled The Singles ) is more a sign of poor decision making than of a lack of enthusiasm for the delightful indie pop institution. We can still remember the excitement in college back in the dark ages when those first singles were arriving at the radio station, a time when people still somewhat suspiciously referred to Seattle-based Tullycraft as the "new thing from the Crayon guy." Fronted by Sean [...]
Taking its cue from Apple, or possibly Hot Topic, Microsoft is opening retail stores across the country, and one is coming to lucky, lucky Portland. The Portland Microsoft store opens at Pioneer Place Mall (in the former space of the Macaroni Grill, RIP forever and ever) with a celebration on Thursday, June 20 and Friday, June 21, and—here's the thing, guys, here is why I am blogging this— Weezer is playing . Weezer is playing? I am confused as you. So confused that I can't think of a snarky joke about this. It's just [...]
Mac DeMarco provides a 'very chill' cover of 'Undone -- The Sweater Song' from Weezer's debut Blue Album.
Mac DeMarco covers Weezer Jangle pop prince Mac DeMarco drops a smile-inducing performance of Weezer's "Undone" thanks to the good people at The Onion 's A.V. Club . DeMarco and his band don't seem to ache over recreating every detail in the song perfectly. Instead, to go for a more raw energy, and emphasize the song's chorus with hilariously goofy vocal harmonies. Enjoy! Check a review for Mac DeMarco's 2 below:

Mac DeMarco covered the classic Weezer staple "Undone (The Sweater Song)" for AV Club's Undercover Club . The band choose it because it was the easiest/chillest song that they could learn while traveling in the van for 2 1/2 hours. Take a watch/listen below as they deliver the song in a very Mac DeMarco fashion. Mac DeMarco covers Weezer

Here's some further evidence that Weezer's " Undone - The Sweater Song " is a truly great piece of music: It has survived Mac DeMarco's best attempts to turn it into something godawful. DeMarco, the gap-toothed and knowingly slapdash indie rocker, is the latest participant in the A.V. Club's "A.V. Undercover" video series, which pairs indie bands up with unlikely covers, and he and his bandmates showed absolutely zero reverence for the original article in their goofball-ass session. Watch it below, and if it bothers you when people use "chill" as an adjective, skip the intro. Read More...
