"Weird Al" Yankovic visited The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson last night, where he and his band of merrymen performed the celebrating-skewing "TMZ", from last year's Alpocalypse . After all, nothing says outrage over society's obsession with overindulgent pseudo-celebrities like a funky accordion beat. Watch the replay below.

First record I ever owned, I'm pretty sure; ca. 1984. First concert I ever went to. First piece of media I wore out (can't do that now. Goddamn digital media.). Every track is still great; the originals the best: "Midnight Star" (tabloids), "Theme from Rocky XIII" (27 years later, we're halfway there, Al!), and especially "Nature Trail to Hell." Dig the first verse: Coming this Christmas to a theatre near you The most horrifying film to hit the screen There's a homicidal maniac who finds a cub-scout troop and he hacks up two or three in [...]

Did You Hear? :: Madonna turned down a request by the late John F. Kennedy Jr. to pose as his mother, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis on the cover of a 1996 issue of his magazine, George , according to a new memoir. Funny, we always saw her as more of a Marilyn . [ New York Post ] :: Janelle Monae is pretty much one of our most anticipated albums of 2012 , but we've already got our first listen to her this year via her guest appearance on fun.'s "We Are [...]
Back in the day, when two artists didn't like each other, they'd deal with it in relatively low-profile ways: A snippy backstage comment, or a pointed interview comment. Maybe they'd toss in a lyrical jab, the way Lynyrd Skynyrd did toward Neil Young on "Sweet Home Alabama," but that would be just about it. That's all changed. If, say, the Kurt Cobain/Axl Rose VMA-backstage kerfuffle had happened today, the resounding Twitterpocalypse would have the over-capacity whale showing up for three solid days whenever you tried to reload the site. And every time an artist is even vaguely annoyed at something [...]
Filed under: News , Video , Exclusive , New Releases Mark Sullivan, WireImage Weird Al was going viral long before YouTube met its first cat. As a parodist, he has a knack for cutting to the heart of his glossy pop subjects, bringing subtext to the surface in service of a laugh. On his recent effort, 'Alpocalypse' -- Weird Al's highest charting album to date -- he skewers everything from nefarious American foreign policy [...]
McClatchy Newspapers (MCT) -- MODESTO, Calif. - For 35 years, listeners to Weird Al Yankovic have focused on his words. Of course, that is the stock in trade for every performer whose livelihood is based on putting new words to already-successful melodies and styles, and Yankovic is the all-time undisputed champion of that sparsely populated genre. But as Yankovic's craft has developed from the early accordion-based song parodies, through his full cinematic years on MTV and into the current...

Win Tix: Weird Al Yankovic @ Pantages Theatre - Hollywood, CA - 11/12/11 Win Tix: Weird Al Yankovic @ Pantages Theatre Weird Al is bringing his Alpocalypse tour to Los Angeles and will be performing at the Pantages Theatre on Saturday November 12. If you haven't seen Weird Al you have def been missing out! I have only had the luxury of seeing Weird Al once before, but was blown away! Weird Al's live show is like watching all [...]
Weird Al has been creating parodies of popular songs for thirty years, but is able to still cut an interesting song parody at a fairly regular basis. More interesting would have to be eir stylistic parodies, which are original compositions that are couched in the unique style of artists like Devo or Neil Young. The [...]

Photo and autograph courtesy of the G Archives. Weird Al Yankovic In addition to growing up and loving the song parodies of today's birthday boy, Weird Al Yankovic, he goes down in G history as the first concert I ever attended. The show was at Knott's Scary Farm in California and Elvira was the opening act! Wow! Making the night even better, and this must have been a precursor of things to come for my concert life – I sat in the front row. During Weird Al's performance of "Like [...]
Did You Hear? :: Katy Perry pays respect to her fellow American Music Award nominee Adele by covering her #1 single "Someone Like You" while in concert, sandwiched right in the middle of an acoustic performance of her sixth Teenage Dream single "The One Who Got Away" . [ ONTD ] :: Coldplay's album title Mylo Xyloto doesn't mean what you think. Or what anyone would think. Seriously, it's weird. [ PopDust ] :: Stream Patrick Stump's solo debu t Soul Punk [...]
"Weird Al" Yankovic is to accordions what Jonathan Davis is to bagpipes - the accidental spokesman for awesome in a place most people only count on for kitsch. I wasn't around for this Californian parodist's rises and falls, having gotten my fitting introduction to his catalog somewhere around the time of a lesser critical darling titled Poodle Hat . "Weird Al" is notable in the music industry for courteously receiving permission from artists before using their material in a humorous fashion, and even more so for providing a discography of laughs beyond any rational measure...and last night he [...]
If you watched "Weird Al" Alpocalypse Tour Live on Comedy Central the other week, maybe you videotaped it and thought you don't need to buy the DVD. Well, sucker, you'd be missing clips of rare, exclusive DVD material (such as "Wanna B Ur Lovr" above). It's the accordion playing parody-man at his finest.

Though this week's new releases is full of all sorts of very exciting releases (such as a whole bunch of vinyl reissues from Dinosaur Jr. and a DVD from "Weird Al" Yankovic 's latest round of touring), we're most giddy about the new album from AIDS Wolf , Ma Vie Banale Avant-Garde (pictured). But, of course, the new releases don't stop there. Bar/None puts out the latest from Emperor X , Warner Bros. has a new one from Mutemath , and FatCat releases an album from We Were Promised Jetpacks . [...]

Weird Al Yankovic has unveiled the video for his accordion-assisted ode to pop music, "Polka Face" , off his new album Alpocalypse . The clip uses various animation styles (and some freaky Yeti puppets to boot), and features Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry and Ke$ha turned into crudely-drawn cartoons. But our favorite part comes when a giant robot wearing Britney's "Baby... One More Time" pigtails storms across a city as Al sings "Womanizer". (Obviously what we were imagining when we first heard the song.) Throw on some lederhosen and watch "Polka Face" below! [...]

If we told you that "Weird Al" Yankovic's music video for the uber enjoyable "Polka Face" was odd, would it catch anybody off-guard? Are any amount of drum-playing Yetis, talking lederhosen, baby-fied Justin Biebers, or wacky cartoons with a decidedly surreal/adult lean truly going to shock the world? No, in the end, probably not. That doesn't mean, however, that you won't LOL when you check the clip out below (via ComedyCentral.com ). How's that spoofing taste, Beebs?! "Weird Al" Yankovic's latest album, Alpocalypse , is [...]

by Jeff Barringer - Staff Photographer L.A. based Weird Al Yankovic brought banjos and accordions to the ACL Live stage last night, making up for a missed appearance at last years Fun Fun Fun Fest. The audience was full of kids of all ages, regardless of actual age, and included long time Austin guitarist Eric Johnson, who watched on while Weird Al wheeled and reeled through a succession of his MTV hits at a frenetic pace. Weird Al's current tour winds its way through the south, then up the east coast [...]

You may best remember Hanson as the band that brought the world the non-word "MMMBop" , but the boys who hail from Oklahoma have been going long and hard at music for nearly two decades. (Pretty impressive for a band with two members under the age of thirty.) In 2009, brothers Isaac, Taylor and Zac released their eighth studio album Shout It Out, and will soon embark on a Fall tour , with each night's set list chosen by the fans. 28-year-old frontman Taylor Hanson took a break from working on new material in Nashville to speak with us [...]
