One of my favorite YouTube channels right now is easily 5-Second Films . Thought there is a limit on time in the project's videos, there's no limit on hilarity. Was that corny enough? Music's greatest satirist, "Weird Al" Yankovic, was actually featured in the YouTube channel's latest episode. Yesssssssssssssssssssssss!
Ourselves, along with Hit City U.S.A., couldn't be more excited for our show this Saturday at The Satellite featuring some of our favorite bands, PAPA , Cillie Barnes, and Lesands. Like any girl that's worth "rounding the bases for", it's always better to get to know them before you reach home plate. Of course these bands are all amazing, but falling in love is all about the details. So take some time and get to know each of these acts on a more intimate level. Here are 5 things you NEED to know about 3 bands you [...]
Filed under: News , Video , Exclusive , New Releases Mark Sullivan, WireImage Weird Al was going viral long before YouTube met its first cat. As a parodist, he has a knack for cutting to the heart of his glossy pop subjects, bringing subtext to the surface in service of a laugh. On his recent effort, 'Alpocalypse' -- Weird Al's highest charting album to date -- he skewers everything from nefarious American foreign policy [...]

Win Tix: Weird Al Yankovic @ Pantages Theatre - Hollywood, CA - 11/12/11 Win Tix: Weird Al Yankovic @ Pantages Theatre Weird Al is bringing his Alpocalypse tour to Los Angeles and will be performing at the Pantages Theatre on Saturday November 12. If you haven't seen Weird Al you have def been missing out! I have only had the luxury of seeing Weird Al once before, but was blown away! Weird Al's live show is like watching all [...]

At 51 years old, Weird Al Yankovic is still putting out music and touring extensively. This year's Alpocalypse tour made its way to The Ryman Auditorium's stage last Friday, and proved that he's just as funny and clever as when he first released "My Bologna." Chock full of costume changes, skits, and rapid fire deliveries of Top 40 hits via polka medleys, Weird Al and his band not only kept their audience smiling and laughing from start to finish, but solidified why he's an icon of popular culture. After busting out [...]
Watch Weird Al's zany animated video for his latest polka cover medley.
Sorry! We got lazy and skipped a couple months. But our good pal Sasha (who previous joined us on episode five to discuss the Black Eyed Peas) was in town and she inspired us to get back on the podcasting wagon. She joins us for this episode, which is ostensibly about "Party Rock Anthem" by LMFAO, but also about our primal urges to learn dance routines, our unofficial contest to come up with the most awkward analogy for people of multiracial descent, and our discovery of what "FF" stands for in an ad for an transsexual escort. [...]

Get More: Das Racist , Music , More Music Videos Das Racist is known as the 'minority bros who ride Weird Al Yankovic waves' of indie. I guess they are alright. they rap abt sillie stuff, then make music videos that are kinda sillie, and also kinda shittie, but they are so sillie that the 'shittiness' is supposed 2 be funny because they just borrow previously funnie nostalgic images from our youth. I have no idea what this song "Michael Jackson" is about, [...]

So I was listening to a couple of the new Lil Wayne tracks from his upcoming release and didn't hate all of it. Actually, I really dug "President Carter." It had a decent sample and I found it very dance-able. Then I was gave "So Special" a chance. It features John Legend and I just enjoyed the last Wayne song. I thought nothing could go wrong. And then I heard Weezy spit this: And then she say my name like I forgot it She crazy for that dick. Lorena Bobbit [...]

Download: Skillz "Love'N Hip Hop" ft. Joe Tann New cut from Skillz "Love'N Hip Hop" featuring Joe Tann & produced by The Roots, Parris and Wierd Al Yankovic.

We keep our eyes peeled for new tour dates announcements each week and compile them on Tuesdays for this handy column… On September 13, quirky funk-rock act Primus will release Green Naugahyde , their first album of new material since 1999 via ATO Records and Prawn Songs. Featuring the band's 1988 lineup of Les Claypool (bass/vocals), Larry LaLonde (guitar) and Jay Lane (drums), the album was produced and engineered by Claypool himself at his Rancho Relaxo studio. This fall the band will head out for a month-long tour [...]

Is Weird Al Yankovic still relevant? The hundreds who packed in at Massey Hall on Saturday night seem to think so. I must confess, I used to love Weird Al when I was a nerdy teen. That was back in the day, when Eat It was playing in heavy rotation on Toronto Rocks . Now in the age of YouTube, Weird Al has found a global audience, his videos racking up millions of internet views. But does his live show cut it? This is Weird Al's Apocalypse tour, supporting his [...]

So nice to see Julie Brown playing Madonna (or is it Medusa?) in the Weird Al video for Perform This Way. Julie Brown - Trapped In The Body Of A White Girl
Honestly what is there to say about Weird Al that hasn't already been said in his 30 year career? The only question that I can think of is why is he still making records? His new album Alpolcalypse Weird Al stays tried and true to the sound that has made him a household name. I personally listen to any Top 40 radio, so a lot of the songs that were being parodied on this album were lost to me. However there are songs that you would have to be under a rock to not understand. A [...]

Two weeks ago while we were sifting through videos to make our 25 Most Influential Music Videos Of All Time list, we came across plenty of parodies of those 25 clips, mostly by Weird "Al" Yankovi... Continue reading "Top 10 Music Video Parodies (Not All By Weird Al)" >

Robert Johnson is the father of the blues. Weird Al? Well, he was the father of nerdcore before the term existed. The legendary writer (Anyone remember the movie UHF?), comedian, music producer, parodist/satirist actor, director and Grammy winner has been pumping out song and style parodies/tributes to prominent contemporary artists since the 1970s. "My Sharona" by the Knack found its comedic remix in 1981 when Yankovic adapated it as "My Bologna." When The Lonely Island crew was still in kindergarten, Alfred Matthew Yankovic's "Eat It" was in heavy rotation on MTV and radio. Over 25 years later, he's still going [...]
When I saw Weird Al's name I got worried for a second. No jokes here though, just straight dopeness as the Roots and Weird Al cover one of my favourite Madvillainy tracks 'Accordion'.
