Release number two in Front and Follow's Collision/Detection series is completely different to the first. Where Psychological Strategy Board submitted four tracks of unsettling mind pollution, West Norwood Cassette Library give us a more accessible but no less enjoyable set of bouncing braindance. 'Collision Bump' is a thumpingly fine techno track reminiscent of Si Begg. The main attraction, for me, is 'What's Going On (Stuff is Happening)'. This is a tremendous slice of skewed junglism of the sort Warp, Rephlex and Planet Mu used to produce on a regular basis; Squarepusher once [...]

A cut-up of samples introduces the next instalment to this continuing series… a departure from the vivid strangeness of the last volume , definitely more dance orientated, scooting a highly commercial bent, with that ooooh, ooze vox tapped lightly in clubby beats and fruit machine diversities… I'm really liking the Jean Giraud / Morbius inspired arts for this one, as the arcade dub-ronics flip between signatures like sophisticated ferrets in a smooth slip of Jackson foot shimmy. Leaves me cruising round the lounge in some approximation of dance as those wispy plankton filters [...]
From what I can tell, West Norwood Cassette Library is the moniker of a South London producer who puts out records under the same name. And that's pretty much all the information he's giving away via his frustratingly uninformative blogspot, but at least that focusses the spotlight more onto the music the label is putting [...]
After their sell-out 3rd birthday, THEM are back at Corsica Studios with another blinding lineup – a techno, house and acid special: 2562 - AKA A MADE UP SOUND (Tectonic, When In Doubt) / PINCH... [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

Artwork by Angelika Arendt [New Kanada] Prior to this release, Adam Marshall's New Kanada had served largely as a home to house and techno. It shouldn't surprise anyone that the mold-breaking record comes from Bob Bhamra. Operating under the West Norwood Cassette Library moniker for the past 18 months or so, Bhamra has shown a certain disdain for genres, mining the intersection of dubstep and [...]
I'm actually posting this on the fly so there won't be any of the usual in-depth commentary often quoted by the Guardian. Basically, I believe I heard this tune in a mix by West Norwood Cassette Library a while back, but word on the street - and by street, I mean the internet - is that it's now going to get a full release on R&S, which is great news because it's cooler than your older brother Mikey was when he got Pokemon Yellow a few days before it's official release. Anyway, have a listen, it'll knock your toupée off. [...]

"The mix could have gone on for hours and hours but I'll spare you. Here are 15 reasons why Mood [...]

Another crisp based selection makes the cut this week and this time it's the turn of the Space Raiders . These rather tasty snacks feature a crisp in the shape of a head of an alien (shaped like famous image of The Greys ) and the Spicy badboys are my particular faves. You'll need at least a couple of bags to see you through today's fine selection of tunes. First up we have a lovely Steve Mason rework from Hyetal courtesy of XLR8R . Taking Mason's vocal and wrapping it around [...]

You must always bring back/decipher/introduce a few new words into your vocabulary for the new year. A key one for me in 2011, especially when talking about people behind their backs, will be prat . It is both cutting and soft, and resonates well with sharper accents like the estuary dialect of English. The denizens of Norwood in South London may want to consider using prat in 2011, it would work well for them. Norwood, funnily enough, is part of the name of the featured record in this post too. West Norwood [...]
Love Pressure EP on Hotflush Recordings Another month gone by in the blink of an eye, and already we're back with another column jack-packed with bassy goodness. May showed no sign of slowing in the good releases department, including stunners from newcomers such as Sepalcure, JOAAN, Kavsrave, and of course West Norwood Cassette Library, the mysterious Londoner who we've bestowed Record of the Month status on this month and also have conducted an interview with for your reading pleasure . As a free aural [...]
