Mark this down on your calendar, folks - July 14, 2012 at Downsview Park! I am still in awe with the stellar line-up of the 17 confirmed acts. Edgefest '12 has a little something for everyone...definitely a must-see festival of 2012. Rocking the main stage will be Billy Talent , Death From Above 1979 , Silversun Pickups , The Sheepdogs , Young The Giant , The Dirty Heads , USS and The Pack A.D. . This past year has been a whirlwind for The Sheepdogs - having just [...]

Awhile back I decided to use a film camera and take some photos from this year's NXNE Festival in Toronto. Bought a roll of B&W Illford 36 exposure film. Wanted to see what the results were on printed photo/film. Took me awhile to get the film developed and scanned the good photos I took (Wish I got a better scanner. Anyone know a good brand to buy?) It would be too much to type up on which acts [...]

Frank Yang I've been trying to do piggyback a write up of Sloan's latest The Double Cross on a live review all Summer but have been constantly foiled. For their album launch in-store at Sonic Boom back in May , a perfect storm of non-functional transit made a 10-minute trip take 45 and while I could hear the show, I couldn't see a damn thing. Then for their two-night stand at the Mod Club I was felled by a post-NXNE cold so those didn't happen. It certainly [...]

Day 2 of Ottawa Bluesfest 2011 was a very fun day. Hope it keeps getting better by each day during the festival. There was alot of diverse genre of music. The acts that I saw on July 6th were: New Country Rehab Orienteers Bedouin Soundclash [...]
This is the story of NXNE told through the perspective of its softer moments, of the things that were there before and will remain to stay long after the last hashtag.
For a little over a decade, the city of Toronto has thrown their hat into the music festival ring, presenting North by Northeast, an answer to the over-saturated festival landscape of their fatter friends to the South.
![[NXNE] Whale Tooth Live at SOCAN/BMI Party @ Tattoo Rock Parlour- June 18th, 2011](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3541705_lg.jpg)
by teepoo This is the second time I've seen Whale Tooth live. I have to say Elle LeGrow is a very well rehearsed performer. It was almost a deja vu performance of what I had seen in CMW from the songs to the choreography, but yet it felt very natural. You can tell she's a person who works very hard at stage presence and keeping it real and full of energy each time. I hope she comes out with her new record soon because the ones [...]
![Live in Bellwoods on June 16, 2011 [NXNE 2011]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3537506_lg.jpg)

It is basically bands playing in Trinity Bellwoods and doing a stripped down acoustic sessions. Great way to enjoy the weather and chill out to the music. On the first day I got to see: Modern Superstitions Graham Wright (Solo) [...]

by teepoo Second up at the Phoenix on March 9th was Toronto's own Whale Tooth fronted by the sexy Elle LeGrow. She was such an energetic presence on stage bouncing and prancing around with a short dress. I actually spent part of the night trying to figure out if she was wearing pants, because it got dangerous at times. Whale Tooth was another appropriately placed band on Mother Mother night. They worked the audience for sure, even though not many people knew who they were. It was hard [...]

Whale Tooth was a CMW discovery. They were one of the opening bands for Mother Mother and I do have to say they did a great job of pairing bands together this year. The group are Toronto natives who pride themselves in having energetic live shows where beautiful singstress Elle LeGrow is the centre of all attention. She bounces and prances around on stage with dresses and short shorts. I actually spent a little bit of the show trying to figure out if she actually was wearing pants because it got [...]

Toronto - Ask most Torontonians about Winter Gloves and they'll probably say that they prefer mittens. Okay, okay bad joke. Winter Gloves is a relatively unknown Montreal-based synth-pop band that has started to garnered attention from appearing at SXSW , Virgin Festivals and Osheaga . I first heard about Winter Gloves during Canadian Music Week when they were scheduled alongside the Russian Futurists, The Acorn and Plants and Animals at Lees Palace. Stellar lineup but, alas, because of said lineup I did not get into the show. Arriving about an [...]

Whale Tooth is a home grown feel good Toronto band that wants to make music that is fun and most of all dancable, I couldn't say it better than lead vocalist jazz crooner Elise LeGrow : "If a song gets my feet moving when I'm playing it, then someone else will probably dance to it, too." Well guess what Elise , my feet are moving! This fivetette is helping put Toronto's music scene on the map with their brilliant hooks and catchy lyrics you can't help to sing along to or [...]

On September 11th (whoa! nine years already!?) I went to see four bands at Ottawa U. Went to see: Radio Radio Whale Tooth Hotshotcasino USS I was more excited to see Radio [...]

It was night three and the last night for the i(heart)music festival that happened on August 28th. It was a big night because seven bands was playing not just one but two rooms at Mavericks and Cafe Dekcuf. The night happened to be The Love Machine 's CD Release show for their long awaited full length " Sweather Weather ". At least there was a good set up to know who to see at Mavericks and Cafe Dekcuf without freaking out on who you missed out. [...]
