The promise - When In Rome Like song titles, lyrics and basically everything to do with songs that aren't short, random melody lines that worm into my head, i'm terrible with band names. I asked everyone at work last night who this song was by (a fact i had once briefly known. I've even posted this song before) but no one could help. I knew it was a band with a stupid but once in vogue "phrase" name, but i couldn't pick it. When [...]

With the departure of member Blue reducing their lineup to a trio, the Virginian alt-hip hop band formerly known as The Five One may have taken on a new moniker ( RDGLDGRN , pronounced Red Gold Green), but by the sound of new single "I Love Lamp", it's safe to say that they've lost little grasp of the catchy-eclectic song-craft skills that helped make them a buzzed-about blog favorite in recent years. An early preview of forthcoming EP When In Rome , the Lightspeed Champion-esque "Lamp" delivers too-cool-for-school indie rock swag on the [...]
Watch a bunch of girls lip synch, do model posses, and that octopus arm motion thing in RDGLDGRN's new music video for "I Love Lamp". If you didn't catch the earlier post about my discovery of The Five One losing a band member and forming RDGLDGRN read it here . Tha Brown Bear did some searching and dug up the details of what exactly went down in an interesting read . Download below: Download RDGLDGRN I Love Lamp RDGLDGRN I Love Lamp
Owl Mag writer, Jennifer, didn't discriminate against music in high school. She saw value in every genre and that makes for a high school playlist that is really all over the place.
So unfortunately DMV alternative/hip-hop band The Five One broke up as BLUE left the band to pursue a solo career. That didn't stop the other members from continuing to make awesome music so they formed RDGLDGRN (pronounced Red Gold & Green). Recently RDGLDGRN released the music video and mp3 to their first single, "I Love Lamp". RDGLDGRN - I [...]

NYC is about to become one giant dirty snowball. Thankfully I'm dipsetting to LaLa land for the Rosebowl 1) Sunlight -Bag Raiders *Hot* If this isn't feel-good music, I don't know what is. Ps. @OMGLifeHacks taught me something interesting yesterday. If you smile, you'll immediately become happy. Try it. Not while listening to this song though, because your head may explode. 2) The Promise (123 O.N. Mix) -When in Rome [...]
Today I feel like bringing you some uplifting tracks to get you in the holiday spirit. And no, I'm not talking about your mom's Mariah Carey's Merry Christmas album (although if various producers wanted to get together and throw together a remix compilation of that record I wouldn't be opposed. Mariah Carey - All I Want for Christmas Is You (Erol Alkan's I'd Rather Get You for Hanukkah So I Can Have You Eight Times Rework) anyone?) Below I present to you a collection of tracks both old and new, upbeat and [...]

A headline that Domino's is, for the first time, having a location near the University Of Dayton that will be open 'round the clock popped from the screen at me. Pizza at all hours is an idea is so obvious I have to wonder if anyone at the top of the food chain at Domino's has taken time to calculate the millions (billions?) of dollars in revenue lost by not providing drunken college students an alternative to small, square burgers sold by the dozen. Imagine the sights you would surely see delivering pizza at four [...]

The Promise - When In Rome And now i know who this song is by. When In Rome. I guess those words had to eventually fall as some band's name. This is a really great song. And it's in Napoleon Dynamite ! That's my generation's link to it. The cool part of my generation that knows how to have fun. That's a defense of the movie.
First of all we'd like to thank all nice guys and girls coming to our premiere night of 309 last week. Kudos to you all! Secondly and last I'd like to share to you some of my favourite songs from the 80's, or simply inspired by the 80's...actually one song is from 79 hope you don't mind. I've chosen more or less obscure and rare songs that you hopefully don't already have: Laid Back - Bakerman Villa - Agneta (Villa [...]
Ah, the Kristen Bell promise from me to you. Sometimes it's great and um, sometimes I have to post on trailers like this. Still, I think Bell is one of the more underrated comedic actresses going, even if I am worried she's going to end up trudging the same desert sand as Sandra Bullock.
As requested. 1. The Promise (Friscia & Lamboy Big Room Tribal Mix) 2. The Promise (Lord G's Rockin House Mix) 3. The Promise (Tony Moran & Warren Rigg Extended Mix) 4. The Promise (Deep... Music, Sex, Boys, and Anal Toys!
This song was a blast for us in more ways than one. We can imagine that it was a blast for Tony Moran to remix as well. We fondly remember When In Rome's The Promise from our childhoods. Some... Music, Sex, Boys, and Anal Toys!

Well, President Obama made it past his first 100 days. Obama has been a pretty busy guy… I'm so glad his family FINALLY decided on what kind of dog to get. Man, that was weighing on my mind more than the current economic recession. I kinda miss hanging out with Obama (or "Obi-Ama Kenobi", as I call him)… I kind of wish he would call me more, but I understand… he's the PRESIDENT now, after all… no more time for playing Grand Theft Auto all day anymore. [...]
Before we get into the news of the day, some notes on VH1 Classic's weekend programming, which consisted of the channel showing a chunk of its vault's videos from the '80s in alphabetical order (by artist, then by song). Why the evil geniuses at Viacom wanted to encourage shut-in-ism among the part of its demographic that probably needs sunshine and air more than most is beyond me, but that's probably because I was too busy getting sucked in to give it much thought. 1. Paul McCartney's " Spies Like Us " was, perhaps surprisingly, not [...]

When I first met Joee, we enjoyed Reuben sandwiches together at the best Jewish deli in Portland, Oregon. We discussed music, women, and blog politics. It was clear to me immediately that this man was one of the most motivated people in this little scene of ours, and that he was bound for greatness. He was seeking a new outlet for his words and taste, so I knew the only prudent move was to invite him to join us. So without further ado, welcome Joee Irwin, to the Palms Out family! - Haldan / Boody B [...]

Love Cascade - Leisure Process (zShare) (1983) Leisure Process were singer Ross Middleton and Gary Barnacle, a saxophonist who can be heard on Soft Cell, China Crisis and Pet Shop Boys' tracks. The Human League's Producer, Martin Rushent, took these two boys under his wing during their three-year career and on this bouncy little number you can hear his League drum breaks, especially at 2.00 just before Barnacle's sax goes mental. The Great Divide - [...]
This one's a smidge on the twee side, but might be just the thing to get your juices flowing this Veteran's Day. There's some songs about drugs, some songs about celebrities, at least one song (track 16) by a band that I can't find any information about whatsoever, and, at about the halfway mark, a former president talking. Try not to let your client get distracted at that particular moment. (more...)
