I didn't get a broner for Fleet Foxes as much as many, many other people last year but the solo stuff coming out from singer Robin Pecknold under the guise of White Antelope (or is it Carthage?) is sounding really, really good right about now. These two songs are most worthy of a Monday morning. Robin Pecknold - False Knight On The Road Robin Pecknold - It Ain't Me Babe Pecknold is on Twitter . Naturally. If you [...]
Mykonos from Grandchildren on Vimeo I'm a little behind on this post, but I wanted to point out that Sean Pecknold 's video wizardry shines through yet again. This tortured genius's latest stop-motion music video for the Fleet Foxes song "Mykonos" is a beautiful adventure of two tiny paper triangles (closely resembling two feet at times). I love the little homage scene (with the eyes) from " The Universe & You ." [...]

Since we started Cover Lay Down a few months ago, I've struggled a bit with the regular inclusion of indiefolk in the mix. After all, if nothing else, the cultural disconnect between audiences is stark: with a few exceptions on the fringe of everything - see, for example, The Abigail Washburn Quartet, who I have seen at Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival , but others more hardy than myself have seen at Bonnaroo - you'll not find Sam Amidon or Fleet Foxes at a true-blue "folk" festival anymore than you're likely to catch [...]

In the wake of last week's unfortunate Langerado cancellation , there is some good news for those of you who still plan on heading down to Florida as a number of bands who had plans to play the fest have picked up shows in the area over the same weekend. Girl Talk and Deerhunter will share a bill at Ft. Lauderdale's Culture Room, while Modest Mouse will take the stage at Revolution. The Pogues will be at Pompano Beach's Pompano Amphitheatre, while King Khan & The Shrines will hold court in Miami at Vagabonds. [...]

If you haven't heard of White Antelope, it's time to get acquainted . It appears that the song has been pulled from the Myspace page but it was ripped from the page before it was deleted. It's really quite incredible, vocal harmonies and all. MP3: White Antelope - It Ain't Me Babe (Bob Dylan cover) (via JP's Blog ) -Evan Kaloudis

White Antelope is Robin Pecknold's side-project which features mostly covers and other songs on it's myspace. First it featured a cover of a traditional song called 'False Knight On The Road', which I posted here and will be released on Fleet Foxes' Mykonos 7" single. This time Robin covered Bob Dylan's 'It Ain't Me Babe', which features plenty of vocal harmonies which are all done by Robin. White Antelope's myspace also features a track called 'Guitar Duet' when I downloaded it and checked the mp3 tags it was named 'Magic Rings' with the album and artist name White [...]
Over the last year, Seattle's Fleet Foxes have been the indie darlings for just about everyone in the music press. In 2008, their EP, Sun Giant , rattled college airwaves and shortly after (a few months, to be exact), their self-titled debut blew everyone's minds away, and quickly became every beach goer's newfound friend. With their unique folksy-pop rock songs and their trademark vocal harmonies, it's no wonder the quintet just keeps on going and going. Now, almost a full year later, the band's still running strong, and this time they're back with a music [...]
Everyone's posting on this today, but why should I let that stop me? As you surely gathered from the headline, Fleet Foxes put out a video for "Mykonos." I like the origami angle, which comes courtesy of artist Sean Pecknold, brother of the Foxes' leading man, Robin (Sean is name-checked in "Blue Ridge Mountains"). He's done work on past Foxes videos, and this one falls pretty much in line with those. Also, Robin Pecknold recently put out a fantastic take on the old English ballad "The Fause [...]

Episode 39 of The Mix Tape Podcast is now available for download! This week's podcast begins with another track from the forthcoming N.A.S.A. album which is proving to be quite a record - there are no two ways about it, this is going to be a huge album. Next we sample the tribal, dub-infused electronic trip that is Devil's Trident from two girls calling themselves Telepathe - we're slowly falling in love with these guys. [...]
Fleet Foxes released a new video for their song Mykonos ... thanks to P4K.tv Related: Have you been paying attention to lead singer Robin Pecknold's side project , White Antelope ? Fleet Foxes frontman releases music under different animal name Robin Pecknold of Fleet Foxes has always played solo shows - this is not a new thing. However, a MySpace page has recently been activated featuring his songs. Performing under the moniker White Antelope , it's obvious from reading the band's description that Pecknold is not only a Lost fan, but he also has a sense of humor about adding another to the long list of animal named bands: White Antelope is the latest and greatest [...]

Hmm, what do we have here ? Two Fleet Foxes style tracks, a mere 150 friends, Fleet Foxes as the top friend, the same profile background as Fleet Foxes, and a picture of frontman Robin Pecknold with short hair? It appears to be Robin Pecknold's solo project. Let's take a look at the tracks. First is "False Knight on the Road". Apparently it appeared as the b-side to the Mykonos 7″. What's more interesting is the metadata pulled from the second track, titled "Guitar Duet". Oddly, once dragged into iTunes it's revealed to be titled something different, [...]
