The UK's White Belt Yellow Tag are a young band on the rise and they share their experiences playing in China with PopMatters through words and pictures. The UK's White Belt Yellow Tag are a young band on the rise, with their year-old British debut LP being favorably compared by NME and others to stellar bands such as Elbow and Doves. Their brand new US EP, You're Not Invincible, has just been released and we have the pleasure of presenting you with the premiere of "Postcards". Fans of the aforementioned groups, as well as the Verve should dig this [...]
White Belt Yellow Tag are essentially the creation of Justin Lockey (ex Yourcodenameis:Milo) and Craig Pilbin, who formed in 2008. Lockey had built up a reputation as one of the UK's leading new band producers having worked with White Lies and Late Of The Pier. With unashamedly big, anthemic, booming pop personality, their sound has been met with critic-slaying acclaim. It's two guys who like massive sounding music. And they aren't alone.
Despite the unbridled feeling of freedom bubbling in the stomachs of the working class and ABC television programming in the early to mid-'90s , there's not much separating a Monday from a Friday. Sure, most of us have two days off after Friday, but there's still traffic, bad breakfast burritos, meetings, and the crawl of the clock toward the glory of 5 p.m. to contend with. The only thing making Friday truly worth of the hype is the tunes, the waves of sound to ride into the sweetness that is the weekend. This week's [...]
Phew! Busy week! Alright, lots of news in the inbox. ++ Amor de Dias are set to tour North American with Damon & Naomi, in the coming weeks. Their album Street of the Love of Days comes out May 17th and they play the Satellite in LA on June 4th and San Diego's Soda Bar on June 5th. Hard to find the words to classify this pretty song. Let's go with bohemian and mysterious. Amor [...]

2010 will be remembered for me as the year 2 of my favorite bands (Autolux and The Posies) released new albums. I'm sure it's a shock to absolutely no one that Transit Transit would be #1 on my list. It took awhile to grow on me even though I knew most of the songs before the album came out but [...]
If you're reading this, chances are you're in New York this weekend. And if you are, CMJ 2010 has already kicked your ass enough that you're now totally fearful of sunlight and/or anything that smells like alcohol. So, really, the opportunity to sit in front of your computer and listen to a mix of the week's best new tracks takes on a new meaning this particular meaning. No longer must you feel left out... or that you have to your apartment for another toxic evening of CMJ. Please enjoy. NEW Singles: [...]
It seems sometimes that rock and roll has lost its sense of size. In 2010, especially at a music festival ironically known for "breaking artists big," it is almost heresy to play big rock music built for large groups and maybe mass appeal. Far easier, in today's climate, to build a few decks of keyboards and sampling machines, make music that sounds like it was recorded at the end of a wind
Seemingly taking none of the sci-fi and post-hardcore leanings of his previous band yourcodenameis:milo and instead opting for an emulation of sorts of Kele Okereke's Bloc Party posturing, Chris Martin's swooning and 30 Seconds To Mars' endless soaring, Justin Lockey's...

From the former guitarist of yourcodenameis:milo - Justin Lockey, and Craig Pilbin comes: White Belt Yellow Tag Sometimes things take a little time to come together. Then when they finally do, they suddenly propel themselves forwards at light-speed, such is their perfectly locked chemistry. So it is with Justin Lockey and Craig Pilbin . The the 12-track album was self-produced and mixed by Chris Potter (The Verve, Blur), and recorded in South Yorkshire in the summer of 2009.
Ex Yourcodenamieis:Milo mainstay, Justin Lockey and his co-conspirator for this new project Craig Pilbin. Must have been asked how Mogwai and Guillemots would sound if they combined forces and attempted krautrock, judging by the vibe given off in the title track? Soaring vocals glide over ticking guitars, delivering a stern and striking warning about giving [...]

After experimental rockers Yourcodenameis:milo decided upon a permanent hiatus back in 2007 guitarist Justin Lockey is back with a new sound in the form of White Belt Yellow Tag. Made up of only two members, Lockey and Craig Pilbin enlist the help of former Cooper Temple Clause member Tom Bellamy to play drums for live gigs. White Belt Yellow Tag's latest release was the single 'Tell Your Friends (It All Worked Out)' which came out July 13th via Distiller Records . The single has echoes of some of Editors earlier tracks but with more [...]
White Belt Yellow Tag today release their fantastic new single 'Tell Your Friends (It All Worked Out)'

Sounding like a cross between Biffy Clyro, Doves, The Joy Formidable (who they've supported recently) and My Bloody Valentine, White Belt Yellow Tag look set to be a quality duo with tunes and credibility to boot. Masters of the quiet / loud / quiet / loud format of song, the duo is made up of Justin from Yourcodenameis:Milo and Tom from The Cooper Temple Clause. They began writing just over a year ago after meeting in a studio in Newcastle, where Lockey had steadily been building a considerable reputation as a producer, [...]

Let's Hear: White belt Yellow tag - You're not invincible
<embed src=" http://vimeo.com Barely a blip on the radar, UK based duo White Belt,Yellow Tag are going to explode in 2009. By the sound of this new song, this band is poised to rule the entire world….including you. Trust us on this prediction.
We are never short of new tracks here at The Recommender. Our noses are highly trained for those truffled tunes as we willingly rummage our noses through the world's various music scenes. You will hopefully appreciate the spoils of our tune-farming and see this in evidence below. It's worth tipping our thanks to Austin too, as the SxSW blog-obsessed festival of new music came to it's conclusion. We now find ourselves at the floodgates as they open and the hype hurriedly comes pouring through. Many rumours are bouncing around about who managed to shine and who disappointed. It is indeed a good time to be a blog. [...]
