[White] Julius Steinhoff and Oskar Offermann sharing a 123. Not much of surprise, is it? Based in Hamburg and Berlin, respectively, the artists have many ties. Last year, for instance, Offermann remixed Moomin's "Sweet Sweet" for Steinhoff's Smallville imprint. And to state the obvious, the pair's individual styles are highly complimentary, too. Both have a propensity for sleek, basics-are-best house. In saying that, Offermann's cut - found on the B-side of Faces #6 - [...]

The no white after Labour day rule don't seem to apply to the J-LOZ who took to the Today show earlier today in all white (furry coat and trousers). Hopefully she didn't spill any red ween on her at lunch-time.

"Paris Is Burning" from the debut album kept us alit throughout our trip to Ho Chi Minh City , Veitnam back in the day. We listened to it non-stop on repeat and over. Other tracks didn't really rise to the occasion, but she had a fierce entrance to the scene. This second offering, Anxiety , is probably a stronger record, purely by educated guess. Tweet Music can be a funny thing. You can go years not knowing that a song you heard way back happens to be the same band that you are currently digging. For me, the track was "Lassoo" off 2008's "Neptune" . I probably heard it at some party held by someone more musically inclined than me at the time. Fast forward to the November 2011 release of "Bruiser" . I'm listening to this fantastic new offering from a band I'm having trouble [...]
Following in Schonberg's footsteps I attempted to buy 12 albums during 2011. Did I do it? Well as I type this I honestly don't know, so together let's have a look at the albums I bought and see how I got on. As I think it will be close, I'm going to count all albums I bought, whether they were released in 2011 or not - I may revise this if I easily make it! [...]

The Schönbys are fictional, made-up awards for me to let you know what I've enjoyed listening to during 2011. Winners and nominations are drawn from music I have seen, heard or bought during the preceding 12 months. 2010, to me, seemed a poor year for music. When it came to choosing my top albums of the year I struggled to come up with a top 5. Was it a general dearth of good music, or just the fact that having a young baby meant I had other things on my mind? Maybe both these things transpired to cause [...]

23 year old Canadian artist Colin Fisher created this track as part of the White Cube project, in which ninety four remixes of an original poem and ambient samples were put together in a creative commons environment. These were all used as part of a sonic installation at the RAM Galleri, in Oslo, Norway. "The White Cube" is a traditional concept used in architecture to describe an ideal gallery or museum space. Through the use of simple lines, white walls, specific placement of entry ways, lights, etc. "the white cube" is meant to create an environment that [...]

It's always hard to nail down your favourite gigs of the year. Sometimes it's the company you keep; sometimes it's the excitement in the crowd; sometimes it's the sound that blows you away. These top 5 gigs were the cream of the crop of my gigging life in 2011. 5. the Coronas at Washington's Red Palace (Tuesday 8th March 2011) – When you play in a town for the first time, you need to endear yourself to the audience. This Irish band lit up the crowd at [...]

What started as a mix tape trading relationship between, Cory Thomas Hanson and Jesse Hlebo quickly morphed into an intricate aural and visual project that gave birth to White Fold. Hanson is better known as W-H-I-T-E and Hlebo via Swill Children . The two collaborated throughout the summer of 2011 to produce the material on the Feral / Free ep in a free form manner, taking inspiration from Salem, the eerie chants of gregorian monks, Brian Eno and other stranger influences. The result? We currently only have one track at the moment, [...]

Si, habra muchas bandas que [...]
11. The Wombats 'This Modern Glitch' - Much, much too fun to care about the haterz. 12. Panic! at the Disco 'Vices & Virtues' - A hooks-stuffed reminder of what made these so striking in the first place. 13. Death Cab for Cutie 'Codes and Keys' - Fresh enough to lock down their place in [...]

The rather-brilliant Breathe Out have today released a new download-only single via their blog. The AA-side single contains two new tracks The Payback and White Chalk Cross and i f the fact that both songs are as good as anything the band have produced so far isn't enough to convince you to buy the tracks then you should also know that all the money raised from the single will go to the Shelter charity. As far as the two tracks are concerned, White Chalk Cross drifts along nicely on [...]
As 2011 comes to an end, we are taking a look back at some of our favorite posts of the year by our guest editors.
