Welsh music is going through somewhat of a Renaissance at present with The Joy Formidable, Gallops and We Are Animal taking up the mantel. Another band that can be added to this growing list of emerging stars is Swansea's White Noise Sound. The Welsh 6-piece do hold a torch for the shoegaze bands of the past, [...]

The compelling self-titled debut record from White Noise Sound starts off like a roiling thunderstorm before settling in to long, hypnotic lulls that offer solace amongst the gathering guitar squalls. The Swansea-based sextet brought in Cian Ciaran of Super Furry Animals and Pete Kember (aka Sonic Boom) of Spaceman 3 to help them realise their sonic objective, and while it's easy to recognise the influence of these celebrated producers, the band has certainly crafted a path that is entirely their own. Theirs is a sound that takes the listener on a journey into the center of a [...]

I remember seeing The Jesus and Mary Chain for the first time and being blown away by the volume and shear intensity of their live sound. You know you've stumbled onto a special band when you yearn for them to turn the amps up louder. Hailing from Cardiff, Wales, White Noise Sound have created a sound that I haven't heard in many years. This sound is the culmination of taking your JAMC, MBV influences and sending them through a meat grinder, filling it with sweat, feedback and a certain sense of beauty that the volume is never [...]
It's a nearly impossible task: to sort, listen to (rinse. repeat), pass or fail tracks, write up reviews, and publish all of the music that is piled up in our email boxes, via the submission forms, and CDs and vinyls. The end of the year is fast approaching, but we've still got 2010 music that [...] Read more, get songs or stream the entire mix on Indie Rock Cafe

White Noise is not supposed to be music. Music is not weird sounds with lyrics over it. Most parents of the 1950s disregarded rock music as "loud noise" and considered it as nothing but shrill sounds. Fast forward 60 years later and that's more of a reality thanks largely to today's technology. Whether or not you enjoy it, synthesizers along with a plethora of gadgets have propelled electronic music as a mainstream genre, but most people disregard the genre almost entirely. Now that's not a fair thing to do considering how much great electronica exists, but I [...]

Storming out of Swansea with a turbulent edge and an unending wave of noise, White Noise Sound are due to blow out many sets of speakers with their massive new single 'Sunset.' Sounding like BRMC without all of the posturing and acoustic nonsense, this experimental six-piece has crafted an electrifying anthem that simply bristles with urgency. After building the tension during the songs simmering intro, 'Sunset' eventually explodes in a dynamic squall that, if played at the proper volume, is entirely all-consuming and utterly irresistible. With clear hints of the harsher side of shoegaze, WNS deliver a strident [...]

"It lasts about an hour", says one user, 16-year-old Luke Mpande, who prefers Jenkem to other substances. "With glue, I just hear voices in my head. But with Jenkem, I see visions. I see my mother who is dead and I forget about the problems in my life." "At the Lusaka sewage ponds, two teenage [...]

In this day and age of ironic and increasingly obtuse band names, a band like White Noise Sound is refreshing. Like the heyday of generic foodstuffs , what you see on the label is exactly what you get here. Hailing from Wales, the sextet is preparing for the September 21st release of their self-titled Alive Records debut, which was helmed by a tagteam of Pete Kember (Spacemen 3, Spectrum and E.A.R) and Cian Ciaran (Super Furry Animals). Lead single Sunset tells [...]

We're absolutely loving this sonic blast of intense, hypnotic pyschedelic rock from Welsh sextet White Noise Sound . It comes from their debut self-titled album (out on 21st September) and it is no surprise to discover the band had assistance with the record from no less than Pete Kember ( Spacemen 3 , Spectrum etc.) and Cian Ciaran from Super Furry Animals . Lead track is Sunset and from just one listen you can see these boys could be destined for seriously big things in the spaced out world of [...]
White Noise Sound is the eponymous debut from the Swansea/Cardiff, Wales-based sextet. Completed with the help of Pete Kember (Spacemen 3, Spectrum and E.A.R) and magician Cian Ciaran (Super Furry Animals), the album is the realization of a band conjuring their own particular wall-of-sound - at once relentlessly pulsating and blissed-out.

Thanks to the ever-vigilant folks over at Arthur for posting a free download by White Noise Sound , a Welsh psych band that just dropped their debut album. The eponymous album was produced by Peter Kember (the WNS owe a pretty fair debt to his old band the Spacemen 3) and Cian Ciaran (of Super Furry Animals.) It's not "blow your mind" psyche where you burn a bunch of candles and stare at the walls for an evening, but that particular brand of head nodding, shuffling two-step psyche that is better suited for parties. Anyway, [...]
