This month Shakira and Beyonce are topping the charts, right under them lurks Timbaland who had his hand in about a zillion other songs in the list. Not that exciting, so it made me wonder what was going on in music a decade ago. Let me take you back to a long forgotten time ... time ... time ... (echo) Aaaaah 1997, Tamagotchis and Baby-G watches were the must-have gadgets which we carried around in our mini backpacks that matched our platform sneakers, and the phrase "Oh my god, they killed Kenny" still got a lot of laughs. Business in Milwaukee for the first part of next week is most likely going to keep me from blogging Monday and Tuesday, so I'm going to go a little further today and give you a few songs to hold you over. Maybe it'll become a running theme... once a month or something... "The Friday Five." Radio 4 - Packing Things Up On The Scene (The Loving Hand Dub Mix) - White Town - December

First of all, there's a fancy flash player integrated now. This means you don't have to download and install the Last.FM-player like before... the new player just opens in a new browser window, and you're ready to listen to your own or the radio of your [...]
Never thought we'd hear from the mysterious White Town again. As a chubby, Indian, ex-Marxist, Jyoti Mishra was an unlikely candidate for hitmaker in 1997. But his gender-bending synth-pop gem "Your Woman" -- which sampled a haunting, sixty-five-year-old trumpet sample...
