We live in a golden age of music. Well, sorta. The tools to record music have never been as inexpensive and widely accessible. It's never been easier to start a band, make a record, and cheaply distribute it thanks to MP3s. Which means not only is there a ton of interesting music out there, but there's also a shit ton of crap. I went to the 7th Ottawa Community Record Show that took place at St. Anthonys Hall in Ottawa. Wanted to see what records I can find this time. Still was abit overwhelming but wasn't as crazy as the last one. In what has already been a great year for Dirtnap Records , they continue with the latest release from Legendary Wings . The group has a little bit less power-pop then recent releases from the likes of White Wires or Mean Jeans , but what it lacks in the pop vein is made up with a sincere rock n' roll enthusiasm that's bound to be the soundtrack to my Friday. There's an obvious spirit to the band, and it shines through in the tune we've got below. White Wires have always had a handle on the crunch and swagger of garage and a fine handle on jagged bits of punk but they've never shown through their power pop hearts with as much finesse and style as their latest album WWIII .
