The debut long player from London’s Cheetahs is right up the top of my list of most wanted forthcoming albums. The four piece shoegaze rock act recently released ‘Extended Plays’ through Wichita Recordings which includes both of their first two EPs - ‘Coared’ and ‘Sans’. The new LP is yet to be dated or titled but we have an early cut from the album called ‘Fall’. Cheetahs – ‘Fall’ [...]
Tonight of all nights feels precisely the right time to go see Yorkshire's returning alt. rock stalwarts Sky Larkin , not least as they just so happened to unveil a preliminary glimpse into their third, and as yet untitled full-length – Motto – more recently than it would've taken to travel down to the neighbouring Kings Cross from their native Leeds, and those East Coast trains really don't hang about. And neither do Katie Harkin & co. Well, almost... Since last heard from, a trio became a duo became a quartet although tonight they're back down to three, [...]
I can't even begin to articulate how long I've been waiting for this to happen – for visceral, yet deftly vulnerable Leodensian trio Sky Larkin to return. And as such to a degree, there's no statement they could've by this point released that would've feasibly lived up to the highly animated anticipation fizzling from my every pore and tszujing up my every particle, unless it were to brim with the animalistic intent so many of their songs have previously. And Motto, I'm absolutely thrilled and commensurately relieved to reveal, is no exception: "If I had a motto I would [...]
Spectrals are back with their second record, an album stuffed full of fresh mettle and renewed panache, honed with the assistance of GIRLS’ Chet “JR” White . Sob Story is set for release on June 3rd through Wichita Recordings (Slumberland in the US only) and sees Heckmondwike, Yorkshire resident Louis Jones ooze a new confidence not heard on previous record Bad Penny or his earlier single releases. The songs sparkle: they are catchier, poppier, more direct into your [...]
Finally here it is! Without further ado I present you with Brazil, the first single from Gold Panda's upcoming album Half Of Where You Live. After January's Trust EP left many salivating for the expected full-length follow up to 20102s brilliant Lucky Shiner ... Continue reading

Katie Crutchfield - who performs solo under the name Waxahatchee - has signed to UK-based Wichita Recordings . The label will be re-issuing Cerulean Salt on July 1, 2013 in the UK. She's also released her new single, "Brother Bryan" and you can check that out by clicking Read More. Dates have also been confirmed supporting Tegan and Sara on their upcoming UK and European dates. Those are below as well.

The ever-wonderful Wichita Records have picked up on the hype swirling around Alabama's Katie Crutchfield - aka Waxahatchee - and will release her second LP, Cerulean Salt, on July 1st after it was initially released in North America back in early March, to widespread critical acclaim. Brother Bryan has been made available for streaming, and it's not hard to see what all the fuss is about. A bouncing bassline, secluded percussion and a vocal that positively pours with doubt, frustration and longing; it feels like the whole thing could [...]

The subject of a lot of focus on these pages and in the DIY office, Katie Crutchfield's Waxahatchee project has announced plans to release her 'Cerulean Salt' LP in the UK. Wichita Recordings release Katie's most recent record, which gained release in the UK this past March through Don Giovanni Records . In a Neu write-up from February , Martyn Young wrote of the album: "Still defined by an ingrained DIY aesthetic that seems to run through much of the very best US indie, ‘Cerulean Salt’ is an album that sees Crutchfield [...]
