Late last week bus driver Tom Torrisi suffered a fatal heart attack while driving some of the crew to Ames and further tragedy was only avoided when a fellow crew member sprang into action and pulled the bus over safely. And then, last night at the Chicago Theatre, a man that police suspect was drunk was critically injured when he fell 15-feet from the balcony according to the Chicago Sun-Times . Yesterday afternoon, a Widespread Panic tour bus was involved in crash as the band and their crew were on the way to Ames, Iowa for last night's show. Crew bus driver Tom Torrisi had a heart attack behind the wheel when heroic merch manager Rachel Kellenberger jumped into action and pulled the vehicle over to the side of the interstate. Widespread Panic has hit the road hard in 2011 for their 25th Anniversary Tour and the heavy touring will continue into 2012 with the announcement of the all-acoustic Wood Tour . This 11-gig tour, along with the Panic en la Playa performances in Mexico, will be the only shows of 2012 for the jam titans before they begin an indefinite hiatus. It's one of my favorite weeks of the fall semester - Shack-a-thon ! Shack-a-thon is a week-long event, running from Monday, September 19 at 8:00am - September 23 at 5:00pm. Student organizations build a shack in NC State University 's Brickyard and live in it for the remainder of the week, with the goal of raising money for Habitat for Humanity .
