Containing the trend of recent music-themed Barack Obama news stories (you saw that Al Green video , right) - the US president has unveiled a Spotify playlist of tracks to soundtrack his forthcoming presidential campaign. No surprises that Al Green made the list, but Ricky Martin? Anyway. Have a listen to the playlist here . We give it a 4.5/10. Tracklisting 'Different People' – No Doubt 'Got to Get You Into My Life' – [...]

Includes Wilco , Arcade Fire, Noah and the Whale, U2, and Bruce Springsteen .

Pasa por No Doubt, Florence and the Machine, Wilco, Arcade Fire y Noah and the Whale, hasta Bruce Springsteen, Aretha [...]
Wilco and White Denim treat a sold-out Seattle crowd well.
Oh wow. Every so often a video comes along that grabs your attention and makes you go Awww. And this is one of them. Stephen Fry is a fan, The dude from Wilco is a fan, I'm a fan, and you will be too after watching this little number. Toy Horses have been hotly tipped by many to break into the mainstream, with their lovely indie numbers that will have you get your indie dancing shoes on. As well as receiving plays in the UK from Radio 1, 6 Music and Xfm, [...]

Siri has been criticized for many things, including taking a stand against abortion , not being understood in Scotland , and even landing on a Flaming Lips track . Heck, with the iPhone 4s being the hottest item on the market and talks about Siri coming on board the highly anticipated iPad 3, Siri remains an important feature of the iPhone, particularly while multitasking. It's quite understandable that Siri befuddles herself on occation, afterall, our leading artificial intelligence is not prone to being mistake free. We've got a long way to go, and I'm sure [...]
Wilco gives an ecstatic sold out crowd in Seattle The Whole Love.

Dusdin Condren I'm not playing "firsties" here, but I've always known that Sharon Van Etten would go on to big things since writing up her debut Because I Was In Love back in October 2009 , and following 20102s excellent epic it seemed pretty clear that her third album Tramp - released yesterday - would be the one that would see her break out in a big way. That said, I'm still surprised at just [...]

Without a doubt, the Hangout Music Fest was the suprise success of 2011. For only it's second year in existence, concertgoers from all over the country swarmed the Alabama coast town of Gulf Shores - essentially a first for the entire gulf coast region. In retrospect, though, the refreshing swell of alternative vacationers couldn't have been much of a surprise: even if they hadn't been treated to as peerless a lineup as entire festival circuit that year offered (which they certainly were), no one should be able to resist the thrill of experiencing any live concert set to a backdrop [...]

Arcade Fire , Florence And The Machine [...]

Neil Young's On The Beach was originally released in 1974 as the follow up to the commercially and critically successful Harvest . It was raw and loose, and from the lyrics and sparse production, it's clear that Young was in an emotionally dark place at the time. For a modern equivalent, you could compare it's emotional bleakness to Kanye West's 808 & Heartbreaks , except that where 808s was overproduced with autotune, On The Beach was underproduced (also: On The Beach is just a better record). We find Young here [...]
Wilco "Born Alone" I'm always a bit confused by the fear of "dying alone," at least in a literal sense. Being afraid of being lonely at the end of one's life – I get that anxiety, and share it. But in terms of actual death, isn't it ultimately something we can only really experience on our own? I think Jeff Tweedy is brushing up against this idea in this song, in which he concludes that he was "born to die alone," drawing a loop from the beginning to the end of life, both of which are [...]
