Vampire Weekend's Modern Vampires Of The City is modern pop music that reaches towards epic messages ("Ya Hey") while still grounding itself in a reality ("Unbelievers" and "Step") that keeps it from becoming too big. Ezra Kroenig has never written songs that play this personal and his band has never been so experimental. Local Natives will be living out of their suitcase for the nex seven months. In support of their Top Star-earning sophomore album, Hummingbird , the band has scheduled a massive world tour. What begins in Australia this week continues on to North America in June, and Europe in July. Then it's back to America in September for an extensive leg of touring alongside Wild Nothing before Local Natives head back across the Atlantic for another round of UK/Europe shows.
