So I listened to No Age's Nouns while I was at work last night, and I must not understand this album's appeal at all or something, because it just isn't doing anything for me. It's just a lot of noisy guitars and drums, but i'm definitely no critic, so what do I know? Anyways, lots of other releases this week that I can wholeheartedly recommend which include Elvis Costello's new album Momofuku , Pattern Is Movement's All Together , and Lykke Li's Little Bit [...]

[See post on tinyways.com to listen to audio] I Can't Tell In His Eyes [MP3] Doubt/Hope [MP3] There is No Light [VIDEO] Building their sound on vocal expressions and drums, Mariam Wallentin and Andreas Werliin of Wildbirds & Peacedrums expand it to a level of free and raw blues. The tender intimacy, soaring ballads and certain jazz elements of their debut album Heartcore (2008) take the listener to new heights only to be grounded by the duo's fiery passion, beautifully brutal and experimental crashes, powerful drumming [...]

Its Saturday and I'm in the office. Granted, its not a ton of work I've gotta do, but its taking some time to get it done. Been listening to a catalog of songs that I represent and trying to see which ones sound close enough to JUSTICE, YYY's, Interpol and Bloc Party . I shouldn't be complaining, it seems quite a lot better than this job . Been taking breaks to clean out my Indie Music Filter e-mail (as well as update the mobile site ). [...]
Now that I think we have a handle on Duke Jr.'s diaperless life, I can catch up with all those emails I get. Here are a gazillion good songs from my inbox to your iPod, complete with a link to the bands website/myspace and a RIYL (recommended if you like) suggestion. Hopefully you hear something you like. Sweden is rocking me these days. Recently I've posted about Oh! Custer, Studio, and now Wildbirds & Peacedrums. Consisting solely of Mariam Wallentin and Andreas Werliin, W&P really packs quite a punch! Free roaming vocal melodies meet tribal Dodos drumming and sometimes a glockenspiel is involved... Their debut album, Heartcore will be re-released April 28th. Wildbirds & Peacedrums - Doubt/Hope Wildbirds & Peacedrums official site Wildbirds & Peacedrums on MySpace
Here's another cool artist from Stockholm, Sweden. Wildbirds & Peacedrums is a two-person collaborative project between Mariam Wallentin and Andreas Werliin. The results are a fantastic innovative experiment in dream pop construction. The songs have a twisting and melodic composition delving from genre to genre taking the best parts of groups such as the Flaming [...]

With her charmingly eclectic compositions and whimsical songwriting skills, a graduate of Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo, now a Norwegian Grammy winner, Hanne Hukkelberg attracted our attention back in 2005. She was first featured on Aurgasm with her beautiful song "Ease" , and second time - for her powerful live version of the Pixies track "Break My Body" . After gaining a reputation as a wonderful live performer, collecting positive reviews all over Europe, Hanne Hukkelberg is finally releasing her second, highly anticipated album Rykestrasse 68 in [...]

Swedish duo Wildbirds & Peacedrums sound both out of place and right at home on Leaf. On the one hand the band trades in icy electronics with plenty of room for ambience but there are quite a number of songs that feature mostly Mariam Wallentin's soulful voice soaring solely above a clatter of sparse drums. The latter is where the band really excels. Sounding like a Motown track with most of the elements stripped away; their minimalist soul stabs straight for the temple. It's as if they took away everything unnecessary and just kept the raw beating heart of the [...]
