I've spent a good deal of my free time thinking about Sirens of Decay and it's direction. It's consumed my free time for a few weeks now. Considering where we came from (really, you should look at that picture), Sirens has certainly exceeded my expectations at this point. I've learned a lot about how to deal with the struggles of the internet. Whether it be of the website, e-mail, or google-fu variety, I've had my share of "WTF" moments and times I wanted to throw the keyboard through the monitor. I've also had a great deal of fun. [...]
Listen While You Work 1.0 started with me saying I was trying to keep my head above water at my job. I came out yesterday in a pretty personal post saying that I wasn't going to live that way anymore. That said, I still spend many hours at work, and it's always important to have good music to listen to at work. And so comes Episode 2 of Listen While You Work. For the most part, it's a little more upbeat this time; you gotta keep you head up while ya [...]

Brooklyn and East Bay duo Wildlife Control had a successful South by Southwest, playing at least four shows and their own official showcase. They also recently released their latest single "Ages Places", and it shows these guys are much more than just one catchy tune with an a amazing video . The track starts off with an easy-going, dreamy sound before picking things up and hitting you hard with a driving drum track on the back half. The band will be releasing another interactive video soon and may play a few summer festivals. [...]
Wildlife Control seem to be a band improving exponentially at the moment. Their latest track, 'Ages Places', starts of with Spectorish backing before turning into a walls-of-guitar monster.

Wildlife Control, fast becoming one of my favorite new bands, is back with "Ages Places." Love the build-up in this one. See my previous post about them and don't be afraid to hop on their bandwagon as it steamrolls its way through indiedom. Wildlife Control on the web | Bandcamp

Here's the latest from indie rock band Wildlife Control , a new single called "Ages Places". Ideally, I would have posted this the week before last, so that I could have told you what awesome SXSW shows this duo were playing. Unfortunately, a combination of bad timing and site issues prevented us from hearing this song until right now. Better late than never! Check it out.

The thing that distinguishes Pennsylvanian brothers Neil and Sumul Shah from the rest is not just that their music crackles with frenzied activity but moreso that it contains soul. So while you will headnod like a good thing something inside will also likely stir. The pair of siblings certainly appear dedicated to the cause and that craft and talent means that new single ‘Ages Places’ is ear popping. And not even those awkwardly stray guitars at the end can muddy what is a pulsating anthem. KD Wildlife Control - Ages [...]

It is 80 degrees outside. SUMMER IS COMING. I survived. I took my sweater off (for the first time in 6 months) while standing in the sun today and thought to myself, "I survived". I screamed it in my head and I let the sun burn my closed eyelids and I wondered how I'd ever made it through... In honor of making it through yet another harsh winter, here is this righteous undeniably warm weather jam from Wildlife Control . ** FREE DOWNLOAD [...]

It's time to check out a bunch of the tracks I have not posted recently. These are just a few of the songs that would get their own individual posts here on GIMME TINNITUS if I only had the time. Here is the next NOT POSTED mix. Listen. Downloadables: Toe Cutter - Thumb Buster (mp3) by Thee Oh Sees Dirty Shirt (mp3) by METZ [d/l the eMusic SXSW 2013 Free Sampler @ [...]

I received a message from Stuarto requesting I cover his show in the late afternoon hours of Friday, March 8. After a minute or two to think about it, I agreed. In all the times I've covered for his show over the past year and a half, I have never done a show that gives a nod to his show, which often features more mainstream music including a handful of tunes from the 60s and 70s. For March 8, I decided this needed to change. I pieced together quite the show for the first two [...]

not so much older but the weight on my shoulders, i feel like a vampire w ho's been through the ages If you know Brooklyn's Wildlife Control for their TBE fave jam "Analog or Digital" then you'll need to shift down a few gears for this smoldering slow(er) track. Like an ember in the Austin wind this one starts with a flicker before catching some air and igniting into full flame. Catch the firestorm live this Friday at midnight at SXSW for the CD Baby showcase . TBE [...]

SINGLE REVIEW: We know we're late to this party but there is something cozy about sleigh bells when they are used as a percussion instrument in songs. The brother duo of Neil and Sumul Shah's band Wilflife Control from PA does this very well to kick-off this whimsical single. Drenched in reverb and guitar delays the vocals lay in real nice on this very magical song. The sound huge on this recording for two dudes. Recommended if you like trippy psychedelic songs, Joy Formidable mixed with Wavves/No Age we highly suggest to give these bros a spin. [...]

"Wildlife Control is Neil and Sumul Shah, a bi-coastal band of brothers who live in Brooklyn and San Francisco. They record and tour with collaborators on both coasts and recently released their critically acclaimed self-titled debut album, which was the highest charting self-released album on the CMJ Radio 200 chart in August 2012. The band followed the release with sold out headlining shows at Mercury Lounge in New York City, Bottom of the Hill in San Francisco, and a headliner slot at the 2012 CMJ Music Marathon. Wildlife Control’s innovative music videos have garnered praise from WIRED and comparisons to [...]

I signed up, via food train, to cook for one of my co-workers this week. She desperately needs a kidney transplant (she has a donor, just waiting for some other medical issues to clear up before she can go forward with it) and spend a lot of time running back and forth to dialysis three times a week. I planned on making her a creamy orzo that comes right from a site that specializes in meals for people dealing with kidney issues. Before I could break out my best direction following her sister came to town and relieved me of [...]
Hope everyone had a nice weekend. It was practically spring here in NYC and great to get outside and feel the energy of the city ramping back up as the warmth returns. Looking forward to that continuing. Now, please dig the latest Weekly Roundup.
