Last month I asked if you guys would be interested in a monthly Ninebullets Spotify playlist. You seemed pretty responsive to the idea so here is the first one. This playlist features every band that was featured on ninebullets in the month of January that was also on Spotify. I hope you enjoy it and if you do, pass it along to some friends. Like I keep saying, every new pair of ears these bands reach is a potential fan/head at show. This month's playlist features: Lauderdale, Ryan Adams, Jason Isbell, The Far West, Will Hoge, [...]

I'm not sure how it took me this long to hear about Will Hoge and I'm even less sure why, in all this time, not a single one of you bastards emailed me a note telling me to check him out. Well, I may be late to the party, but with his seventh release I finally stumbled upon Mr. Will Hoge and I'm loving it. I can't speak for any of Will's other albums as I've not listened to any of them (yet), but while Number Seven may be lucky in theory, for the bulk [...]

If any artist could epitomize the transformation of Nashville from singular big hat country capitol to diverse seeding ground for singer/songwriters, Americana, indie rock, roots soul and eclectic art/pop it's Tennessee native Will Hoge . For over a decade, Hoge has deftly sewn all of those aforementioned elements into a rough hewn, comfortable stylistic kit bag extending over six acclaimed albums and countless dynamic live shows. But it is relatively recent events like a near fatal motorcycle accident and his maturing into new roles as husband and father that shape Number Seven , his [...]

Critically acclaimed Nashville singer/songwriter Will Hoge 's seventh studio album, aptly titled Number Seven , is set to be released on September 27, 2011 via Ryko . The new single "When I Get My Wings" - which highlights Hoge's full-throated Otis Redding -style vocal with a heavenly host of Memphis-inspired horns - just premiered on AmericanSongwriter.com . Check it out now on BandWeblogs.com . Stream Will Hoge - "When I Get My Wings": Acting [...]

Had plans for a lengthier post this morning before being caught up in Sunday night's big news . Here's what I had written before the news broke... *** ...And let's start this post off with some live music from Brandi Carlile. Carlile's new CD, Live at Benaroya Hall with the Seattle Symphony comes out tomorrow, and is currently streaming over at Paste's website . Better hurry if you want to hear it... these things tend to go [...]
No real theme holding things together this week... just a few vids I've been enjoying. I posted on Rebecca Pronsky's upcoming album earlier this week. Here's a clip of her performing "Hard Times" from the album at The Loveless Cafe. Here's one from Over the Rhine's new album as performed for the good folks at Music Fog . Finally, here's another video from the Cayamo Cruise. This one features Scott Miller & Will Hoge doing a John Prine tune [...]

Nashville rocker Will Hoge recently released an EP titled "The Living Room Sessions," which was recorded in only two days in Hoge's living room and features stripped-down versions of essential songs from his latest album "The Wreckage." Will Hoge is playing an acoustic set at the National tonight opening for heavy rockers Shinedown. It's a little weird that an acoustic act would open for a hard rock group, but it should be a good time. UPDATE: Turns out, Shinedown is doing an acoustic tour , which makes Hoge opening for [...]
An oddball week. No major highlights of note, but there might be a few for you collectors. The Acacia Strain have a new live DVD; both Baroness and Mastodon are releasing some 123 vinyl; Mumford & Sons has a new one; fans of Black Moth Super Rainbow should check out the debut solo LP from the group's pianist The Seven Fields of Aphelion ; Story of the Year is holding strong in the screamo department (or maybe not?); an unexpected full-length from [...]
This is one song off one richly fantabulous album that I never wrote about in 2009. It grabbed me by the throat the first time I heard it, and watching this performance, I think it's clear why: Even If It Breaks Your Heart - Will Hoge The Wreckage is out now on Rykodisc, and Will Hoge is on tour after that horrific scooter wreck [...]

As Charles Durning's character Henry Larson says in Home for the Holidays (perhaps the greatest holiday film of all time), "Opinions are like assholes. Everybody's got one and everyone thinks everyone else's stinks." After sifting through a shitload of opinions (pun totally intended!) and lists over the last month or so, I've come to believe that truer words were never spoken. So, with that in mind, here are ten songs I loved in 2009 and five I think you'll love in 2010. 01. Kings of Leon - "Use Somebody" (from [...]

Do you ever hear an album and wonder why you have never heard of the artist before? I do and this album is one of those. Now I may have heard the name before but I had never heard Will Hoge's music until someone handed me a copy of "The Wreckage". I screwed around for a while because it had a stack of stuff to get through musically, at home, and at work and soon forgot I had the album. The other day I was cleaning up some stuff and found this little jewel. I plugged it in and wondered [...]

[How did I never notice that Ryan Adams and Bryan Adams share the same birthday? Ryan turns the big three-five today, and Bryan the even bigger five-oh ... meaning he was 9 in the "Summer of '69." Celebrate by hitting a show ...] The Pixies aren't the only iconic band from the 1980s making the rounds — Dinosaur Jr., whose new album "Farm" is arguably as good as anything in their catalog, hits town for a show at the House of Blues. And the bonus: Bassist Lou [...]

Filed under: News , New Music , Exclusive A little over a year ago, Will Hoge got into a terrible accident on his scooter that left him with broken ribs and shoulder caps, a broken sternum and knee cap, a shattered femur, lacerations to his body that required over 100 stitches and several other injuries. The trauma postponed, but didn't stop, the singer-songwriter from working on his new album, 'The Wreckage.' Hoge recently stopped by Spinner's New York office en route to a show at the Bowery [...]
