The rains made the night less than hospitable but those of us that made it out were treated to some wonderful music. We arrived just as Knoxville's Matt Woods was wrapping up his set, so I immediately hit the bar for some social lubrication. Two Red Seal Ale s into the night The Most Beautiful Losers took the stage. I've had their CD in my computer room for a few months now, but I've not managed to give it a listen. Live, they're loud, rough and everything rock n' roll is supposed to be. Watching [...]

Call this one a victim of an overfull inbox. I got the email from the PR company back on December 3rd, but for whatever reason I totally missed it. When I spent the week after Christmas rummaging through the back log of emails I stumbled upon this gem. I'm not sure where they're coming from (I think Florida or so), and I'm not entirely sure where they're headed, but "Navasota", released in July of 2008 according to Amazon, has been in pretty steady rotation here at ThaBombShelter HQ for the month of January. Will Quinlan and [...]
i'm a simple man, and really in the end, i like my music simple. just give some good lyrics, a guitar, banjo, a little harmonica, throw in some pedal steel and a drummer that knows his place, and i am all good. my aforementioned needs are the reasons why i love tampa's will quinlan and the diviner's 08 release, navasota . its simple, but true and in the end thats all i need. 3 chords and the truth.... thanks to blue for introducing me to these guys. hallowed ground [...]

Alt-country van Will Quinlan & the Diviners uit Tampa, Florida. De band deelde het afgelopen jaar onder meer het podium met Drive-By Truckers en Camper Van Beethoven . Navasota is de titel van het debuutalbum. MP3: Will Quinlan & the Diviners - Remember the Beatitudes Will Quinlan & the Diviners op MySpace [...]

Will Quinlan and The Diviners hail from Tampa, FL, a town who's music scene I know nothing about. It's home to Nine Bullets , a great alt-country blog that first introduced me to Will Quinlan's music. After first sampling a few tracks, I looked at the usual digital retail suspects and couldn't find Navasota anywhere. I regret forgetting about Will altogether. Luckily, the fast up and coming online retailer Amie Street surprised me last week when I ran across Will Quinlan's album for less than $4.00. I promptly downloaded and have been listening [...]

You have no idea how happy I am to be typing this particular entry. Will's album coming out has seemed a lot like Pete Rose's getting into the Hall of Fame- lotsa people want to see it happen, but it just doesn't look like it's gonna. Well, buck up Pete, because Will's album is not only out but it's coming out in a manner that allows anyone with an internet connection to buy it. While Nervous Turkey is my favorite local band, Will's easily my favorite local musician. Navasota is in reference to some unknown [...]
