I'll always have a soft spot for William Orbit, having stumbled across his single "Water From A Vine Leaf" back when I was working in college radio; in fact, Strange Cargo III became the soundtrack to a pivotal chunk of...
We've heard the original. And we've also heard a house version somewhere, but William Orbit's rewank of Jimmy Sommeville's (of Bronski Beat and The Communards) take on Sylvester's disco-funk... Music, Sex, Boys, and Anal Toys!
I'm heading to the Gorge for the Sasquatch Music Festival, and won't be back to the interwebs until Wednesday at the earliest. Given that I won't be posting until late next week, here's an extry big Friday grab bag to...

Today, the full demo of "Revolver," a supposedly new track of Madonna 's upcoming Greatest Hits package has leaked. I'm still too dubious to believe that this will actually be used, but for the purposes of this post, I shall entertain the notion. "Revolver" is like an increasingly urban spin on anything off of Britney 's Blackout --most notably "Radar" and "Piece Of Me." It's not as good as those two tracks, but it's probably more fun than anything off of Hard Candy . Mercifully, the song does not beg for relevancy [...]

iLike's Playlist Editor let's you make and share your own playlists. You can send a link to your playlist to your friends or you can put them on any website page like facebook and myspace or like what I did below. Unfortunately, you can only choose up to 8 tracks and you can only play 30 second samples of each song. But it is fun to share playlists. The one I made below is 8 tracks from an old mix I used to fall asleep to, Epic Nightscapes. [...]

Orbit has worked with scores of famous pop musicians including Madonna, Blur, Pink, Britney Spears and Sugababes but his latest album, as with most of his individual work is anything but pop. This instrumental nature of his latest work ranges from relaxing chill out ambient songs like opener 'Radio Harp' and 'City Lights Reflaction' right through to more dance orientated melodic techno tracks like 'Purdy'. The constant factors throughout are Orbits attention to detail achieved through careful layering and the devotion to creating original scores in a career that has spanned over 3 decades. [...]

WILLIAM ORBIT has just released a home produced video for Optical Illusions , which sees its release on iTunes April 13th...from the forthcoming album My Oracle Lives Uptown . The version of the song you'll hear in the video is the Dr Meaker remix, which will appear on the single. I'm a huge fan of DIY music videos, I have a bunch hidden somewhere from when I was a kid...but then again don't we all?! Don't forget to [...]

We've got 5 free tracks for you in this one. Enjoy! Winkle sent us his remix of 'If U Seek Amy' by Britney. This version is more on the electro side of things. I really like it. While Madonna 's off recording songs for her upcoming Greatest Hits and stealing babies from Malawi, two of her producers have been hard at work with their own solo projects. Mirwais , producer responsible for a majority of both Music and American Life (as well as a few Confessions tracks), has been involved in a new collaboration project with Arabic singer, Yasmine Hamdan --a collaboration now known simply as Y.A.S. . The goal for [...]

Tres bon remixes on this EP that sees a welcome return from William Orbit. His new album 'My Oracle Lives Uptown' will be released in May. 'Optical Illusions' is essentially a remix package. There are no other songs on here except the original and the remixes so I don't really think it's justified in it's EP title. Nevertheless the remixes are strong. Check out the tidy drum and bass rework by Dr Meaker. It's really smooth and has a dancefloor bassline chicness about it. There's also a chilled broken beat trip hop [...]

On 20 April 2009 William Orbit is to release the 'Optical Illusions' EP. WILLIAM ORBIT , electronica producer extrodinaire...famous for producing Madonna's Ray of Light album, is back with a new album My Oracle Lives Uptown . You can preview the first single from the release, which features Karen Poole on vocals. [...]

Today, 18 Wheeler are the next up for the indie dance remix treatment. 18 Wheeler were a Scottish rock band active in the early 1990s, consisting of Sean Jackson (vocals, guitar), David Keenan (guitar, vocals), Alan Hake (bass), and Neil Halliday (drums). 18 Wheeler released three albums for Creation and loads of bubblegum/punk/pop inspired singles. They never made it massive and have since drifted into obscurity. They released three albums, Twin Action 1994, Formanka 1995, Year Zero 1997. They sounded out of time then, with their weak indie sound. But from [...]

It's been a while since I did anything from this series. To make up for it, a couple of tracks from singles from Bassomatic (aka William Orbit) from 1990/1991. I never covered Bassomatic under the letter B. The dodgy 80s style record covers always put me off. Bassomatic (sometimes written as Bass-O-Matic) were a British band that made house music in the 1990s. A project of William Orbit (founder of Guerilla Records), the band included vocalist Sharon Musgrave and rapper MC Inna Onestep amongst others. Their first album was 1990's Set the Controls for the Heart of the [...]
Cyberraga - from the Music era. It was a bonus track on the Japanese and Australian versions of the album, and was a b-side on Music ( Don't Tell Me in the UK and some other European countries.) She's up to her old chanting ways again in manner of Shanti/Ashtangi , but this one's way dancier and not quite as obnoxious. The seriously cool video is a projection from her Re-invention Tour, from Vogue according to one of the video's commenters. Me likey! And I might as [...]
This is a cover of ABBA's track Like An Angel Passing Through My Room ; it's a demo recording from 1998 between Madge and William Orbit, that would been included on Music (I think...). Not mad on it to be honest. Liquid Love was, again, William Orbit and Madonna recording for Music , but apparently it gave her "the wrong tingles". Eh, nul point BBZ! If I could grab an mp3 of this I would be in heaven. The [...]
William Orbit needs to get producing again.
A 4 disc collection of rare William Orbit trax have hit the internet. Here's a highlight of the 4 discs. If you want the entire collection, do a little cyber sluething... you never know what you might find. -Gettin' his fix - Tabloid Junkie.

Some electronic re-working of comedown queen Beth Orton. Instead of taking the big-lunged approach to dance music so common in 'uplifting' house, this goes in the opposite direction, favouring fragility. Beth, along with Dot Allison, was its finest exponent. Elizabeth Caroline Orton, commonly known as Beth Orton, (born December 14, 1970), is a Brit Award–winning English singer-songwriter. Known for her "folktronica" sound, which mixes elements of folk and electronica, she was initially recognized for her collaborations with the Chemical Brothers in the late 1990s--but these were not Orton's first recordings. She released [...]
