Dot to Dot 2012 By Paul Faller Website / Tickets It's arguable that the UK is beginning to suffer from festival fatigue – even big names like Sonisphere have fallen victim to the tough financial climate. With that in mind, city-based festivals are looking like more and more of an attractive proposition, providing the opportunity to pick from a myriad of bands for a fraction of the price of larger events, and with the added bonus that you can worry less about [...]
Posted in Get Your Gig On Something For The Weekend Mumford and Sons are taking a bit of a different approach to festivals this summer, they've decided to set up their own mini one: The Gentlemen of the Road Tour. This special tour sees the band stop off in Galway on June 9th for a one day mammoth show featuring Mumford and Sons, The Vaccines, [...]

Photo: Jason Williamson It's very easy to be snobby about Willy Mason . He seemed like the perfect encapsulation of the sixth form poet who got lucky, pedalling embarrassingly crude lyrics thanks to an oddly indeterminate charm. But in an unusually hushed Hoxton Bar & Kitchen, surrounded by people who don't go to a huge number of shows, that snobbery becomes impossible to maintain – because Willy Mason clearly means a huge amount to a lot of people. Dressed in black [...]

Need some tasty new tunes? We've got your covered with another four-track mini-mix of Soundcloud goodies. Today we're featuring the first singles from the new WIlly Mason and Spiritualized albums alongside some smooth cuts from Evy Jane and Owls & Bodhi. I think you'll approve. Willy Mason - Restless Fugitive It's been awhile since we've heard from the man Willy Mason, yet only seconds into this rambling, shuffling new track and you'll remember why you've missed him. "Restless Fugitive" is a rhythmic, psychedelic folk rocker than will get your [...]
It really seems like an eternity since Willy Mason was procliamed the 'next big thing'. Despite a lack of releases since 2007 he managed to retain a certain level of interest, increased of late through a wonderful duet with Lianne La Havas. Mason is set to return with his first album in over five years later in [...]

Willy Mason may have shed the folk lining of his first two records a bit here — teaming up with Hot Chip/CSS/M.I.A. producer Dan Carey for the follow-up to 2007's If the Ocean Gets Rough — but the Martha's Vineyard songwriter remains a seeker. On this year's as-yet-untitled effort, Mason explored "growing up and trying to find one's place," he said, adding that it's "the third and final chapter to a particular narrative" began on his debut. Given Mason's fine duet with Isobel Campbell , other notable recent collaborations, and this promising world-weary march, it seems he's [...]

Welcome to Toadcast number 215. This is called the Kingcast because I have been on a bit of run promoting gigs recently, with three in the last eight days or so. Given almost none of my friends or music associates came to these gigs and that the list of attending guests on the Facebook event pages made for pretty grisly reading, I was grimly expecting the gigs to be absolutely awful - barely attended wastelands of funlessness - but every single one was brilliant. The people who came were almost all people I didn't know, with a few [...]

Following on from our Friday mix yesterday, here are a few tunes to stream, listen to and investigate further should you feel the need. We think you probably will. First up is the new single, 17 , from Young & Lost Club's indie alt-rockers Being There . a Oxford's latest buzzworthy band are The Black Hats - lots of energy, a definite pop edge, big chorus hooks, and smart lyrical rhythms. Listen to Kick In The Doors . It comes from forthcoming mini-album [...]
Taken from his as-yet-untitled new album, Willy Mason 's "Restless Fugitive" finds the songwriter working with producer Dan Carey (MIA, Hot Chip, Franz Ferdinand) for a six-minute track that rambles amiably over a clanking pulse and some echoing guitar lines, creating a mood that's both dark and dreamy. The album "is about growing up and trying to find one's place", observes Mason -- something we'll explore when the full album -- his third -- drops later this year. Mason, who opens for Mumford and Sons on March 8 in Nashville, was heard most recently singing [...]

Tweet Stop what you're doing, right now, stop it (obviously don't stop reading this post though, it's a figure of speech, geddit?). Stop, pour yourself a Scotch, light up a fat stogie, kick off your shoes, rest and spin the track below. Bliss isn't it? Willy Mason is back with a new release ahead of his forthcoming album. Willy has that indescribable gift of producing ageless music. Is Willy 75 or 25? Was this [...]

Five years on from his last studio album, Willy Mason has announced his much-anticipated return with the release of 'Restless Fugitive' , the first track to be taken from his forthcoming LP. The album is as-yet untitled but was recorded throughout much of 2011 with producer Dan Carey (MIA, Hot Chip, Franz Ferdinand). Restless Fugitive, a slow-burning and intoxicating, six-minute track, is available as a free download from his Facebook page link below, so if you like what you hear then be sure to head over their and help [...]

Below you'll find 'Restless Fugitive', the first single to be taken from Willy Mason 's forthcoming (and as-yet-untitled) third album, which was recorded last year in South London by Dan Carey (MIA, Hot Chip, Franz Ferdinand). "The album itself is about growing up and trying to find one's place. I think of this record as the third and final chapter to a particular narrative that started with 'Where the Humans Eat'." You can listen to the track below, or download it by clicking here . [...]

If, like us, you've wondering what happened to Willy Mason, you'll be glad to hear is releasing a new album later this year.
Lianne La Havas caught the eye last week when this wonderful duet with Willy Mason was posted by Nialler9. 22 year-old Londoner has so far released two EPs, this song features on Lost & Found, featured in the BBC Sound of 2012 poll and by all accounts made quite an impression on Jools Holland last year, yet, this was my first [...]
I almost didn't mention Lianne La Havas just because she charted in the BBC Sound of 2012 poll but I figure, if I haven't had the time to go through the list, then maybe you haven't either right? As it happens, this song is a double deal. Lianne La Havas' sweet and light vocals duet with Willy Mason's (it's been a long time Willy ) more rugged timbre and it's in-between where the magic happens. La Havas made an impression last year on Jools Holland (watch those two [...]

get ready to know and love this girl fast! at just 22 years old, this half greek/half jamaican londoner is quickly gathering massive praises with her gentle yet mesmerizing voice. there's something very retro about the jazz chords lianne sings over, but it just draws you in. check out some choice examples of her wonderfulness below! lianne la havas - age (live @ later with jools holland) [what a way to get introduced to the masses! lianne quickly got a gig as an opening act touring with bon iver after this performance!] [...]

Lianne La Havas is our favorite new singer. Lianne's got in her singing just the right mixture of soul, taste, diction, restraint, and melody. That sort of appears-once-a-year mixture that makes her someone you need to keep an eye to. The soft "No Room For Doubt", which features American blues singer Willy Mason, is a gorgeous track that perfectly introduces that stunning La Havas (hushed here) vocal talent. Spin this one. Lianne La Havas - No Room For Doubt (Feat. Willy Mason) Lianne La [...]
