Cold Wind: Last Day Of Filming Part 1 On April 6th, we filmed the opening scene for our short film, Cold Wind. This was the last day for filming as well. It was so much fun and a lot of hard work went into making this film. We are entering it into a film contest hosted by Ridley Scott so go watch on the JordanWarnerFilms channel on April 15th and tell us how it is!!! Songs: Bassnectar-Upside Down and Bassnectar- Lights (Ellie Goulding Remix)
The day is cloudy but bright. It looks as if the sun will be making an appearance sometime later. It is 41°, cooler than the last few days but seasonal for March. The wind blew all day and all night. I was lucky my deck glass table top didn't break because the wind toppled the umbrella which then took the table along with it. I didn't expect that to happen as the umbrella is through a hole in the center of the table so the wind was a mighty wind. Today is calm; nothing is moving. [...]
The wind is so strong Gracie and I heard a crash and rushed to find the source. My umbrella had been blown down, and it banged as it hit the deck rail. Come to find out there is a wind advisory, and the winds could be as strong as 55 MPH. I decided my umbrella is probably safest where it is. Already it is 56° which is almost tropical for this time of year. The sun is bright and the sky perfectly blue. If there were no wind, it would be a lovely deck [...]
Busy day of news yesterday for Limerick band Windings yesterday. First of all, there's a video for 'The Space I Occupy', which will form one half of a 73 single that will be released on Out On A Limb next week. Also featured will be 'The Hassle'. I think that [Read more]
Looking to start the day on the bright side, I'll note that even though it is only 34° and will go down to the teens and maybe even the single digits tonight, the wind has stopped. My deck was a mess this morning from all that wind yesterday. The umbrella had fallen, the cover was off the barbecue and another cover was off the table and chairs. I righted everything but complained the whole time though no one listened. Gracie stayed in the house. Nothing dumb about that animal. The dumb one was outside in the cold. [...]
Miserable is the first adjective which comes to mind in describing today. The rain is constant, and the wind is strong enough to blow the bird feeders back and forth, even the heaviest, the squirrel buster feeder, is swaying. Gracie hasn't been outside since last night. She never even bothered to stick her head out the door as the rain is loud enough for her to know it's pouring. Just in case she needs to rush, I've left the back door open. My den is dark. I had the light on earlier when I was reading the papers [...]
A dusting of snow was on the lawn this morning. It was the second dusting of the winter, and both are the only snow we've seen. The day is getting warmer, already up 5° since I first checked, and the warmth has made the dusting a memory. Today will be in the 402s. During previous winters, a day in the 402s was considered almost balmy but not this winter. 40 during the day seems to be the norm. The nights, however, are still cold, even freezing, and they remind us that this is really winter. On our way [...]
Mixed bag of news for Windings fans fans this morning. First, a new song accompanied by a video. There are at least 10 different ways to watch the stars in squares type video for 'The Hassle'. I can't take my eyes off the cowbell square. Yes, that's right, there is [Read more]
Emotions are mixed as they always are when leaving one place behind to face something completely unknown but I'm a major advocate for change and more-so pro anti-regrets
Legau aka Cedric Rebagliato is an uprising but already established French artist, DJ and a techno composer. With releases on classy labels such as Tongut, Figure (Len Faki), Italo Business etc he has catapulted himself into a league of producers such as: Samuel L Session, Slam and Adam Beyer.Legaus music can be described as made for clubs, rather precise, straight and rocking steadily. And you can assured that he has lived up to his reputation with the tracks he has done for us.His release on Trapez contributes to the more recent releases on the label worshipping that heavy rolling techno sound, [...]
The top ten albums of 2011 are revealed
This morning was warm, sunny and quiet when I left for breakfast. When I got home, my yardmen were just finishing clearing the pine needles from the front lawn and the oak leaves from the deck and driveway. I could see grass and pavement for the first time in a long while; however, soon after the men left, the wind started again, and the pine needled have begun reclaiming the lawn. Now the clouds have rolled in and the sun has disappeared. The day is much like yesterday, drab. While I was talking to my sister, I watched [...]
Click image to download full album Song: The Wind - Hathor "The Wind - Hathor" What's so good? The first three seconds clinched my ears into thinking it was a summery impression of Gogol Bordello's "Through the Roof and Underground," but as the song gained momentum I was easily reminded of The Beatles Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (that I listened to on a cassette tape back in 2005). Turns out The Wind is your quintessential Long Beach band, [...]
For some reason we have not gotten around to reviewing Alela Diane's latest effort, Alela Diane & Wild Divine. It is her strongest effort by far and definitely worthy of your attention. We just added to our recently updated best albums of 2011 so far list. Alela just released a video for "The Wind," which you can watch below, and she will be supporting The Fleet Foxes in Europe. For you European readers, get their early. She puts on a great show. Tweet
Though I woke up around 8:30, I lolled in bed for another hour or so. The room was chilly as the window had been open all night, and I just didn't want to leave the comfort of my warm bed, but Gracie, sensing my stirrings, got up and went downstairs. I knew what she wanted and sure enough her door bells started ringing. She wanted out. I ran downstairs, let her out and ran right back to bed. Much later I decided to brave the day and dragged myself downstairs, grabbed a cup of coffee and went to get the [...]

Liverpool-based but Belfast-born producer SertOne got his hands on Feist's 'Caught A Long Wind' off her recently released album Metals. The album itself is much sparser than her previous offering and SertOne makes 'Caught A Long Wind' even more cavernous. Download it for free below. Barrygruff has an interview with [Read more]
