Winks // Daisy Ingraham EP Winks ' self-titled debut album was criminally underlooked. Put out by Friends Records , the album felt spacious, retro, and tropical and it quickly became one of my favorites (you can still download it for free on bandcamp ). Then this past December the band released their followup album called She's Done on the same label. Drum 'n' bass pioneer DJ Marky played a short set at Wink in Mumbai last week. The gig was opened by Mumbai act Bay Beat Collective , and was preceded by a 'workshop' that ended up being more of an informal Q&A session due to flight delays and general exhaustion (Marky flew Sau Paulo->London->Dubai->New Delhi->Mumbai, and then arrived directly at Wink). As CMJ's annual showcase solidifies this week, bands are flocking to the East Coast for a shot at wider recognition. Bands are coming from all over, making pit stops along the way and playing shows as they progress toward NYC. This Sunday, a few bands from the D.C. and Baltimore area are getting together for a pre-CMJ show. This one-day festival, Sunday Brunch, takes place all day at the Annex in Baltimore.
