When do the clocks go forward again? Well, erm, Thursday should be fun. This weekend was somewhat written off, after an apocalyptic drinking session on Saturday took its terrible revenge on Sunday, rendering most of the day a ruin apart from shitty movies and too much Chinese takeaway. Myspace // "Telechrome" [mp3] Los Angeles indie rockers Wintergreen released a new single on their Myspace page today entitled "Telechrome." Much like the majority of the songs on their full length debut Around & Around Again , the song is a toe tapper with furious guitar work, energetic drumming, and the most wonderfully catchy call and response chorus. I'm not sure if the band is currently working on a new album or not, but if their new material sounds half as good as "Telechrome" then this may be their year.
That's a question I've never been able to answer. Want another? Why buy music when you can download it for free? Yeah, that's a question that's even more troubling...but in this case, it's the artist's generosity that's to be credited. It was a great year for music with tons of songs that I loved, but these are the ones that really stood above the rest - the ones I listened to obsessively. Ground rules - only one track per artist (trying to decide which Mates of State track to use was almost impossible), and I didn't include "You are the Generation That Bought More Shoes," since it's been out of many many moons, and it didn't seem fair to steal the #1 slot from a genuine 2006 song. It seems to be a busy time for the band whose Clockwork Mice single was one of my favourites from last year.
