It's the last week of April, and so it is time for a look back at the month's best free MP3s that also happen to work well as a single, sequenced mix. This zip file finds the common ground between Purity Ring and ASAP Rocky, has a heart of new wave compliments of Psychobuildings and John Maus, and ends in metal. Grab it and press play, no skipping: Read More...

In the 1980s Crass , and their whole anarchist commune collective, was a huge influence on my safe, rural, middle-class upbringing and made me aware of political issues and wider moral injustices that I may otherwise never have been. For that reason alone I will always have a fondness for them and the many bands like Zounds, Conflict, The Mob and others that appeared on their label. That said, Crass covers don't come along too often ( Jeffrey Lewis excepted), and so hearing this one of Walls given a electronic dance [...]

A wriggling, mutated, discordant funk groove, " Walls " is one of the weirder songs in the huge and storied catalog of the beloved British anarchist punk crew Crass. Win Win, the dance crew led by former Spank Rock producer XXXChange, have included a zippy, catchy cover of the song on their brand new Ones & Zeros EP, and it takes its place somewhere near the Soft Pink Truth's version of "Do They Owe Us A Living?" in the unlikely canon of electronic Crass covers. Despite what you might assume, Win Win isn't the new-rave project of Arcade Fire's Win Butler and his evil twin – it's fronted by XXXchange of Spank Rock production fame and fleshed out by a few more beatmakers of status. You might've heard their self-titled record last year, but these guys aren't taking a break: you can now sample the self-titled track from their follow-up EP, Ones and Zeroes . "Once and Zeroes" the song sounds like its title – processed staccato vocals sound like a mechanical love child engineered by [...]
Win Win, the production crew led by former Spank Rock producer XXXchange, debuted with a self-titled album last year, and they'll soon follow it up with a new EP. "Ones And Zeros," the first thing we've heard from that EP, is a jittery dance track with an element of stiff, robotic new wave; there's a bit of Devo in its DNA. Download the track below. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =wJKtUbxZ9wg HMP'S Dominic Lahiff and Lucas Howe recently traveled to Brooklyn, NY to direct a music video for Win Win. Comprising producers XXXchange, Chris Devlin and Ghostdad WinWin make music that feels cinematic, psychedelic and dreamlike. These themes are beautifully captured in Lahiff and Howe's video for "Pop A Gumball". Dominic Lahiff and Lucas Howe [...]

Last year, Win Win, the dance trio led by former Spank Rock producer XXXchange, released their self-titled debut album. Today, their track "Pop A Gumball" gets a video, and it stars Spank Rock, Andrew W.K., Chavez's Matt Sweeney, and a girl who dances expressively while wearing a slip. Given that cast of characters, you'd expect some all-out party, but the video is actually pretty dark and moody. AWK gets to flex his best scary-guy smile, and Dominic Lahiff and Lucas Howe direct. Watch it below. Read More...

Five years after storming onto the indie dance-rap stratosphere with Yoyoyoyoyo, Naeem Juwan, aka Spank Rock , returns with the equally amazing titled sophomore LP 'Everything Is Boring and Everyone Is a Fucking Liar.' Due for release on September 27th via his personal imprint Bad Blood Records, the LP features production work by Spank Rock collaborator XXXChange , Boys Noize , N.E.R.D./The Neptunes' Pharrell Williams, N.A.S.A.'s Sam Spiegel, and Chris Rockswell. Also, Philly dance queen Santigold and New Orleans MC Big Freeida lent their voices for guest spots. If that isn't enough to excite you [...]
