Some very cool things are happening in various corners of the indie rock fiefdom micro-niche of the interwebs....and we're not referring to a curiously similar-looking relaunch to our own bad selves. After hearing his performance on public radio station WNYC's "Soundcheck" , I am ultra excited for the upcoming solo album from Sigur Ros frontman Jonsi Birgisson . The album, entitled Go , drops March 23. This live performance features Jonsi flying solo, Picture the same delicately powerful vocals supported by a lone guitar (or ukelele or piano, depending on the song). Thursday October 8th, 2009 at 8pm marks the official launch of Classical WQXR 105.9 , the new WNYC owned and programmed public radio station. This past Wednesday, Grizzly Bear were supposed to perform on The Late Show w/ David Letterman. Unfortunately, they did not due to some stupid Chevrolet dude. whatever. Fortunately though, for us big Grizzly Bear fans, they performed a totally sweet acoustic set @ WNYC/NPR last night. The whole set was gorgeous..."Coherence and collaboration." Earlier tonight Grizzly Bear performed a special stripped down acoustic set in NPR's WNYC studio. In addition to performing new songs off their new album Veckatimest , which by the way will finally be released on Tuesday, David Garland also spent some time interviewing the band as well.
