There's probably nothing that divides and angers music lovers more than a list. So on the day the BBC announces the long list of its 'Sounds of 2012' it seems the music twitterati are already up in arms about who's in and out. What better way then to quell the collective fever than to get a load of blogs to produce a list of what they consider should be 'big' in 2012? It was nice to be asked, but given our USP and general tardiness we're still slightly bemused why we were solicited to contribute to [...]

It is increasingly difficult in this day and age to put a finger on the pulse of what constitutes popularity regarding anything other than the saccharine, platinum-selling pop that gets shoved down our throats daily. However, crammed into Bristol venue The Cooler on a typically rainy Monday night in February, it becomes apparent that the power of word-of-mouth is not waning. It is also quite clear, as they take to the stage, that, despite their worry once that "hairy record collector types" would be their only audience, Wolf People are a band on the [...]

One of the now-rare pieces I've written for TMT of late. Hopefully more will follow. I wrote about Wolf People's singles compilation release Tidings earlier release this year here .) For Tiny Mix Tapes : Wolf People Steeple Jagjaguwar ...Completely devoid of the ADHD that made Tidings so charming, Steeple instead errs on the side of monotony, the whole thing sticking firmly to its [...]

Having released their first fully formed album 'Steeple' last month, the English folk rockers Wolf People have announced they will play a small string of dates to round off the year, including an ATP curated evening with Phosphorescent. Plans for a tour and a single early next year are underway, whilst April 2011 will see the four-piece join label mates Black Mountain at Holland's Roadburn Festival. If you're not yet familiar with their own particular brand of 1970s inspired psychedelic blues you can check out the video for the flute-led single 'Tiny Circles' below. [...]

Wolf People are an English psychedelic rock band based in London, Bedford and North Yorkshire. They formed in 2006 around the release of a very limited CD EP on Sea Records as part of the Lifeboat Series. They then released three 7" singles on Battered Ornaments Records , they quickly sold out and are now becoming quite sought after. In fact, the 73 vinyl "Cotton Strands" is taken from is completely out of print, so for now the digital version will have to suffice. The band have been embraced by the psych community receiving [...]
![Wolf People's Steeple, Psych-Rock hatched in a chicken barn [Album Review]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/2925066_lg.jpg)
England's Wolf People are back with their first proper LP, Steeple . They actually released a clusterfuck of an album called Tidings (which I liked), but this release is much more accessible. Lead singer Jack Sharp recorded Tidings on his own, but for Steeple he put together a full band and, my God, do they jam. This an album for people that loved that British, bluesy, psychedelic sound of the early 702s. It was recorded in an old chicken barn on the grounds of a 17th century Welsh mansion and the [...]

Last year, they cleared out the leftovers. This year, Wolf People capitalize on a steady buzz built on their respect and sheer love of late '60s/early '70s rock and roll with their Jagjaguwar debut, Steeple . After forming in 2006, Wolf People started with a series of 7" singles and a limited edition EP. The result was a slowly growing appreciation for Jack Sharp, Joe Hollick, Dan Davies and Tom Watt, and the band eventually signed with the Bloomington, Indiana label Jagjaguwar – home of Bon Iver, Okkervil River and Parts & Labor among others.
