Having released their first fully formed album ‘Steeple’ last month, the English folk rockers Wolf People have announced they will play a small string of dates to round off the year, including an ATP curated evening with Phosphorescent. Plans for a tour and a single early next year are underway, whilst April 2011 will see the four-piece join label mates Black Mountain at Holland’s Roadburn Festival. If you’re not yet familiar with their own particular brand of 1970s inspired psychedelic blues you can check out the video for the flute-led single ‘Tiny Circles’ below. [...]

Wolf People are an English psychedelic rock band based in London, Bedford and North Yorkshire. They formed in 2006 around the release of a very limited CD EP on Sea Records as part of the Lifeboat Series. They then released three 7” singles on Battered Ornaments Records , they quickly sold out and are now becoming quite sought after. In fact, the 73 vinyl "Cotton Strands" is taken from is completely out of print, so for now the digital version will have to suffice. The band have been embraced by the psych community receiving [...]

England's Wolf People are back with their first proper LP, Steeple . They actually released a clusterfuck of an album called Tidings (which I liked), but this release is much more accessible. Lead singer Jack Sharp recorded Tidings on his own, but for Steeple he put together a full band and, my God, do they jam. This an album for people that loved that British, bluesy, psychedelic sound of the early 702s. It was recorded in an old chicken barn on the grounds of a 17th century Welsh mansion and the [...]

Last year, they cleared out the leftovers. This year, Wolf People capitalize on a steady buzz built on their respect and sheer love of late ‘60s/early ‘70s rock and roll with their Jagjaguwar debut, Steeple . After forming in 2006, Wolf People started with a series of 7” singles and a limited edition EP. The result was a slowly growing appreciation for Jack Sharp, Joe Hollick, Dan Davies and Tom Watt, and the band eventually signed with the Bloomington, Indiana label Jagjaguwar – home of Bon Iver, Okkervil River and Parts & Labor among others. Destacados: The Fresh & Onlys: Play It Strange The Fresh & Onlys: [...]

Alright, I know what you're thinking. How big is this pack of wolf bands? My guess is, as long as the bands with the word "deer" in them keep growing in numbers, there'll be "wolf" bands around. I'm particularly excited about this London -based band. Wolf People follows in the vein of the Black Keys - this band's sound seems to have jumped aboard a time machine, having missed the boat on the heydays of rock, roll and revolution half a century ago, inventing something entirely unique in its attempt to [...]
and they're bringing Wolf People in tow. It's at the Windmill, soon. A very cheap ticket , especially if you consider the guitar porn levels of technical ability the headliners bring with them. Wow, this post was just so link heavy. It's like being in 1998 again. Hypertextlicious!

I haven't done a mix for a while so here are 13 gems i've tripped onto Enjoy. Download the entire mix as a .ZIP Tracklist: Breakbot - Baby I'm Yours (Aeroplane Remix) Nite Jewel - Am I Real? Mike Simonetti - Louie Louie Worship - Starcrash [...]

Wolf People - Tiny Circle [...]

Wolf People ~ "Tiny Circle" ( mp3 download ) Wolf People is a foursome out of the UK and their debut album, Steeples , is due out Oct. 12th. Is it just me or does the flute in "Tiny Circle" reminds anyone else of Jethro Tull ? '70s British blues rock is back.

Music video for "Tiny Circle" by Wolf People from the band's 2010 release, "Steeple."
Earlier this year, the UK's Wolf People released the singles compilation Tidings - 15 tracks written and recorded by the group’s guitarist/vocalist Jack Sharp. Now united with Joe Hollick (guitar), Dan Davies (bass), and Tom Watt (drums), Sharp has developed his haunting bedroom recordings into entrancing, groove-laden folksongs. Steeple , Wolf People's first proper LP since emerging as a band, will be available October 12th via Indiana-based Jagjaguwar . In order to help capture the current metamorphic nature of the group, the new tracks were recorded in [...]
Wolf People - Tiny Circle It's not every day that we're blasted in the face with a flute solo. The jazz flute, once the powerhouse backbone in many a funk/psych band's arsenal has been relegated to ren-faire mockery (thanks jethro tull) or outright lunatic derision (ron burgandy!). So here the sweaty fingers of Wolf People have wrested the reigns back and stuck a flute front and center in their new single. So there. And the rest of the song is great too, riding a strong riff and a classic psych vocal. These folks are right at home on the...

Progressive rock and jazz fusion aren't spring chickens anymore, and some might say they're on the verge of a long-overdue death rattle. There are plenty of revivalists, but what the music needs now is a doctor. It might never happen, but the band Wolf People is keeping everything stable on life support for now. On "Tiny Circle," the first track to come forth from their upcoming album, Steeple , the band runs a gauntlet of staccato guitar riffs wrapped with some impressive flute leads. The vocals are [...]
