TOP 10 ALBUMS OF 2006 When choosing my Top 10 albums from 2006, I considered mostly what I actually listened to. This was a particularly good year for music - one of the best in recent memory - and a lot of great albums were released. There were plenty of albums that I liked, but what good is an album, really, if you've no desire to listen to it? These may not be the absolute best albums of 2006 in a critical sense, but they're the ones I spent the most time with. [...]
I am finally back to my flat and soberish enough to post again after the new year shenanigans - hope everyone had a good party . After the love I got for the Hot Chip Remixes and Remixed, I have decided to try to make remix compilations a relatively regular occasion here on The Blue [...]
1. Amy Winehouse "Rehab" Forget "Crazy", the poor man's "Hey Ya". This latecomer is the real un-overplayable track of the year. Like any lead off single this phenomenal, the downside is that you'll neglect the rest of the album because the rest of the songs aren't this instantly loveable. And really, equal credit should go to Mark Ronson, whose production really lifts the song into instant classic territory. I need to check more of his stuff out, [...]
Every year around this time I start to wonder what new bands and music I will stumble upon in the next year. I decided to list the 5 bands I was most happy to discover in 2006. And by most happy I mean they got the most playing time in the iPod and CD players in the Autopsy household. ---------------- Drag The River I posted an apology to these guys earlier in the year for ignoring them because of their name. I finally got to see them live a few weeks ago and it was as [...]
In compiling this list, I tried to not overthink it. As I drove home from work, a few clear choices came to mind: "Talk on Indolence" by the Avett Brothers, "Stop Thinking" by the Mysteries of Life, "You Blanks" by Portastatic. Some came to mind as I perused the 2006 playlist in my iTunes library: "Face of a Faith" by Nellie McKay, "Black Sweat" by Prince," the remix of Wolfmother's "Woman."
In 2006 The Sky Drops recorded and released our debut EP Clouds of People, toured the Midwest and Eastern Seaboard, played several shows in London, and started preparing new songs for our next release for early 2007. I had less time than usual for seeking out new bands but I quite enjoyed the "don't call [...]

Lots of music comes across my desk here and as a result Im sure plenty of it gets lost in the shuffle and doesnt get its due. Earl Greyhound deserves some attention, even if its a bit different than alot of the artists you hear about here. EG manages to bring alot of classic rock sound to an indie market, and they do it quite well. Earl Greyhound is made up of Matt Whyte on guitar, vocals; Kamara Thomas plays bass, and does some vocals, while Ricc Sheridan is on percussion and sings a bit himself. [...]
Well it's finally here, after much debating and changing and rearranging my top 25 albums of 2006. Most likely it should be called favorite 25 as it's all subjective anyway, and if I did it again next week it would most likely change. I'm sure everyone will find something to agree or disgree with here, but these are the ones that spent the most time in my cd player.iPod,etc. They are the ones I enjoyed listening to the most. All in all it was a pretty good year for music. So, kick back and enjoy, add a comment if you [...]
Finally, it's Friday. This week fkn' drrrragged. But, soon... Soon it will be 5 p.m. & for 56 hours I will be free. Free from the shackles of this 9 to 5, free from this cube, free from wrinkle-free twill khaki's. Free to do whatever it is my little heart desires. And usually on weekends, my heart desires beer. And beats. So, it's time to get drunk. I mean fall down knock out a
Yep, it's that time of the year . And as usual, the nominations are mostly bullsh*t. With that said, good luck to the following: Neil Young , nominated for Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance, Best Rock Song and Best Rock Album Tom Petty , nominated for Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance and Best Rock Album Béla Fleck & The Flecktones , nominated for Best Pop Instrumental Performance and Best Contemporary Jazz Album Bob Dylan , nominated for Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance, Best Rock Song and Best Contemporary Folk/Americana [...]

Continuing with my Best Songs of 2006 post (see songs 21 through 25 here ): 20. the minus 5: cemetary row buy the album | yep rock records site The Minus 5 are a band jam packed with tremendous musicians, including Scott McCaughey and Peter Buck of R.E.M. fame, and have connections with Uncle Tupelo and Wilco, another huge favorite. Here The Minus 5 team up with Colin Meloy of [...]

Wolfomther "Joker And The Thief (Loving Hand Remix)"
I didn't catch much DFA action at 93 Feet East on Friday... it was much more pleasant in the other room. I was a bit disappointed to have missed Prinzhorn Dance School, but I guess I'll hear something from them soon enough. I was also hoping that James Murphy would soften the blow by playing Bloggers Delight at the Lock Tavern last night, but along with Simian Mobile Disco he didn't show up.

You know what I mean PUNCH This one is for you Wolfmother-Woman (MSTRKRFT remix)
We don't get to talk about video games here, and that's a shame. I'm a geek and i'm not ashamed of it. So tonight damnit, i'm gonna talk about some video games. Over the years the gaming industry has been in the midst of the overwhelming popularity of rhythm-based games. From the Japanese import Dance Dance Revolution to console classics like Parappa the Rapper that was released in the mid 90's and one of the first rhythm video games of it's time. It's interesting as music and video games go hand in [...]
Colossal.mp3 Wolfmother I'm not sure what's up with EZArchive. I'm going to try a new host, see if that will work.
