Eco-spiritualist black metallers, Wolves In The Throne Room , released an EP last year about a bucket of oats and barley plotting to take over the world. That was reason enough for Tom Gibbons to interrogate Aaron Weaver, drummer with the Washington State-based band, after their recent London show . How was London this time around? “I was really pleased with that show. The last time we played London it was a bit more stressful for us [...]
I don't get how all the good stuff gets clumped together and then we get stuck with weeks like this, where there are a few mentionables (Gomez, Great Lake Swimmers, Peter Bjorn and John) and everything else is either mediocre or we've already talked about it ( Malajube , Impending Doom ). And a few WTFs for good measure (Nightwish, Queensryche). All that's left is the Yeah Yeah Yeahs album, which already released digitally a few weeks ago and is really good. Get on that. :: Adam Franklin , Spent Bullets [...]
Wolves In The Throne Room have announced one hell of a US tour. Seeing the band headline will be awesome on it's own level, but the fact that WITTR will be bringing Krallice and A Storm Of Light only elevates this tour. The band is currently touring in support of their new record Black Cascade. Read more for the dates. Wolves In The Throne Room 2009 Headlining US Tour5/13/2009 Marquis Theatre -
The big buzz on the street yesterday was that Metallica would be playing at the 2,100 capacity Stubb's; was it worth getting there early to ensure a spot inside? The 8 semis parked outside the venue loomed large. Would us plebes even be able to get in? Some friends from the Relapse goon squad opted [...]
Thrash is back. And its cooler than ever because the masters have returned. Testament will be touring soon and Anthrax members are making all kids of special appearances. After watching Lars answer some expensive questions, you can read an interview with crust king Rob Miller of Amebix [not thrash, but still has a hefty amount [...]
Vince, Kip, and Anton OyVey are all down at SXSW, but don't worry about lil' old me; Higgins and I got shit covered. Here's what happened in the world of metal this week: We all finally got to hear the new Mastodon album! Needless to say, intense debate ensued. We spoke to Wolves in the Throne Room [...]
Eight hours straight of phone interviews is nobody’s idea of a good time, especially when the guy doing it usually spends his non-band time working the land on a self-owned farm outside of Olympia, Washington. So Aaron Weaver, the drummer for black metal band Wolves In the Throne Room, must be commended for his affable [...]
OMFG! This is a tour not two miss. Two bands on the cusp of being really huge, really pushing the boundaries of just how awesome metal could be. WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM and KRALLICE, two bands all your friends will soon be talking about are going on tour together!. Don't miss these shows: May 13 [...]
I already clued you all in on the fact that we're having some brilliant black metal tours coming to the Twin Cities this summer, but now things are just getting ridiculous. This week, the announcement was made that the visionary BM minds of Wolves in the Throne Room and Krallice would join together in what [...]

Thus, the great musical migration begins. The time of year when the preening musicians shed their downy winter coats and the musical industrialists begin their violent rutting, and both travel to the balmy shores of Austinland to begin a vigorous coupling ritual that has existed since the mid-nineties. The music journalists too-a symbiotic species, not to mention hermaphroditic and incestuous-begin their annual masturbatory phalanx for the musicians. Truly the 8th wonder of the natural kingdom, and I, dear reader, the respected and feared Bartender, intend to observe with watchful eye this unique spectacle. That’s right folks, I’ll be [...]

Aaron Weaver doesn't want to redefine black metal, nor does he want to preach about sustainable living. But there's one thing of which the Wolves in the Throne Room drummer is certain: the modern world is losing touch with ancestral spirits. When Weaver isn't touring or creating materials for another release, he's working on his communal farmstead "Calliope" outside Olympia, WA. In a phone interview, Weaver discussed touring Europe, hating corporate culture, appraising ancestral spirits, and glorifying mystical musical journeys. Interview by Jess Blumensheid Photos by Afton Larsen [...]
It snowed 8 inches in NYC on Monday, but we got back from the Scion Rock Fest in Atlanta just in time to deliver you our usual drudge report. Can you imagine if we'd been stranded? No MetalSucks for two days. What would you have done? Contemplate these noteworthy events of the week as you [...]

The new millennium has signaled the transformation of American black metal. What was originally a subterranean scene mostly represented by obscure tape demos from Burzum-worshipping one-man bands (or the split releases they did with other sequestered basement dwellers) has now surfaced. With Nachtmystium’s major label hype machine in full swing last year USBM can finally [...]
That I'm sitting here in the MetalSucks Mansion this snowy Monday morning has gotta be some kinda heavy metal miracle; as I type this, Anton OyVey, Rob Pasbani from Metal Injection, our friends from BITPOM.com, and a lot of other fine friends are still stranded in Atlanta due to the weather. And honestly, there are worse [...]

Black Metal. So weit, so schlecht...
Looking through some upcoming shows I found a band named Tombs who have a pretty decent thing going on right now, beings as they are touring around with the likes of Pelican and Wolves in the Throne Room. I imagine Wolves In The Throne Room is alot better live than on record and the same goes [...]
Review: Wolves in the Throne Room, Malevolent Grain EP.
