Unlike my fellow blogger, The Pop Cop , I am stupidly excited about today. Not since about 1997 when I queued to get tickets to see Blur at the Barrowlands, has there been an event that I have been happy to haul myself out of bed at an ungodly hour to get down and in line. But this morning I will be leaving the house just after half seven to go an stand outside my favourite record store, Love Music to pick up some of the exclusive 'goodies' which are being released as part of this years [...]

First off apologies for the lack of a Friday Freebies post yesterday, a combination of going to the Twilight Sad and a teething baby meant that I just plain old ran out of time. Fear not though as it will be a double roll over next week. Anyway, that's enough apologies for one week, onwards and upwards with this weeks We've Got It Covered post which focuses on some of the Scottish artists that have been selected to play at this years South By South West (SXSW) festival in Austin, Texas. I appreciate that a lot of you will already [...]

For months now I have been mulling over my albums of 2010, not that I think it matters much in the grand scale of things, but it means something to me. This year I have decided to make things a bit easier on myself, so instead of going for my top 50 as I had done for the past two years, I am going with just ten. For me personally, Woodnbox are one of the finest pop bands in the country, yes I know that they're predominantly a folk band, but they don't have make some catchy pop tunes. So it makes sense that when they were asked to record a cover for the BBC when they were up at Rockness, that they'd choose a song by the new 'Queen of Pop', Lady Gaga. Short but sweet this week as I am off up north to visit my folks to celebrate my dad's 60th, really looking forward to it too. See you all same time next week [...]

To my detriment I can be a bit presumptuous at times, which means that quite often I assume that everyone will have heard of a band based purely on the fact that I have. Hence I almost feel like I should apologise for not giving Woodenbox an airing much much sooner. Their debut album, 'Home and the Wildhunt' has pretty much been the main stay on my CD player for the past few months. It's even achieved the status of being Erin's (Baby Peenko) favourite bath time tunes, my wee girl clearly has taste. I first came across [...]
