Originally hailing from London, Woolfy started hitting the clubs in Los Angeles as a teenager and by the time he turned 19 he already knew DJing was his destiny. So he bought a couple of turntables and before you know he was playing his first gigs around LA! The rest is history: he founded the deep house & funk club Pressure, became a resident DJ at the legendary Café-Club Fais Do Do and started the duo Projections with Danny Hastie in 2000, as well as the underground band Sounds From The Ward. Our Matt Oliver recently sang the praises of Miguel Migs' latest album, Outside the Skyline , calling it "a massive lesson in doing the simple things well." One of the album's best tracks is "Close Your Eyes" featuring the inimitable voice of Meshell Ndegeocello. Migs handed over the tune to several remixers - Deetron, Osunlade, Uner, Woolfy, Shades of Gray, Orio Calvo and Alex Gomez, Dave Mayer and Dutchian Soul & Salva - and is graciously giving away the Salva Remix. Download the single below and buy the single when it drops on November 7.
More chaos is occurring in Melbourne city on Friday night (15th of July) with the appearance of Modular's duo from Sydney, Canyons, playing at the Buffalo Club in the CBD (if you haven't been before I strongly suggest you check it out - great atmosphere with a healthy dancefloor enclosure.. all happening upstairs). Canyons have their debut album out later this year so help them celebrate in style - more event details at the FB event page . This special event is brought to you by: plus Café (a Thursday bi-weekly night running at [...]

Rimer London - Love Dagger - Magnetron Music by Low Life Inc From the Rimer London press release: Influenced by Sly Stone, Yellow Magic Orchestra, Acid House, Giorgio Moroder and Kraftwerk, producer Rimer London from Amsterdam, bought his first synthesizer when he turned 16 and started making tracks with 2 tapedecks, a drum machine and his new synth. After playing several instruments in as many different bands, Rimer hooked-up with Bas Bron, a.k.a. Bastian, Seymour Bits, Gifted and many other guises, and the two formed electro-techno [...]

Although I'm excited about all the artists we have performing tomorrow for Miami Music Week, my personal favorite is Woolfy . He makes the "dirty disco" that really gets me going. Not too many vocals, not too many strings or layers, just sophisticated grooves and driving beats. Here's a brief interview with Simon James, the London born/LA based musician behind the name. ND: If it wasn't for this, Woolfy would not exist... Woolfy: Well I can put this up to alot things .. 1) my mental state [...]

Download: Moon Martin - Pain Killer (Woolfy Edit) This something I first heard at a club night run by one of my favourite blogs The Beat : the Visitation at the Lock Tavern (a regular haunt of mine). A simple edit by Woolfy of the Moon Martin track 'Paid Killer' (below), stretched out and delicately cosmified, bringing some sense of morose to the dancefloor. Discogs

....Special report from certified-homie Hayden Bagot.... Hayden from Flying Turns here. We caught a DJ performance from Woolfy last year during SXSW that left us throttled. He completely stole the show and then got off the decks to drink and dance with us while his label-mates on DFA records pushed on further into disco-house territory. We woke up the next day in pieces but knew we had to bring back the man who has killed parties, released on popular labels (DFA, Rong, and Permanent Vacation), and performed his records with a touring live [...]
More information after the jump with some statements from The Wax On Records Crew themselves. Mo' neggidy! Sure you will remember NEGGHEAD's fantastic Scrambled Negg debut album from late 2009…... [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

Woolfy 's Looking Glass is out now on DFA we can't get enough of these sweet visuals ;)
Woolfy's new EP, crafted from the biggest track on his debut album If You Know Whats Good For Ya! , is most definitely a grower. For me anyway, it didn't impress much on first listen, but I keep coming back to it, and can't help myself. Everytime I listen to it I find something else I like. The original, the Foolish Felix remix and the Canyons remix are all great, but for me I think the acid house musings of the Canyons remix tips it for me. Buy it all here on Beatport. Woolfy - Looking [...]
Here we have recent DFA signing Woolfy 's video for his new EP 'Looking Glass' Woolfy is LA based Londoner Simon James who's new EP is a particularly epic, Post-Punky, journey through Dirty Disco and SynthPop and includes a reMix by Canyons. The gorgeous video was directed by Collin LaFleche. The 'Looking Glass' EP is out now. Woolfy @ Beatport Woolfy @ Juno [...]
Isn't this ish like 2 years old? well a proper video and a proper release on DFA anyway... I dig it....
Some fresh DFA goodness in the form of Woolfy - Looking Glass and this is the lovingly crafted video: SlothBoogie
Woolfy : Looking Glass - Vidéo
Woolfy - Looking Glass (Canyons Remix) Australian duo Canyons turns Woolfy's dance track 'Looking Glass', off his 2009's 'If You Know What's Good For Ya!!" album, into a melancholy ballad. It sounds more of a re-work than a remix to us. Brilliant. Woolfy's new single is out now on DFA. It also includes a remix from DJ, producer and Cynic label head "Foolish Felix" Dickinson. Buy your copy here and make sure to watch the neon video for 'Looking Glass' below. Directed by Collin [...]
