Fragile can sometimes be conveyed with actions, images and sounds - Woolly Leaves provides at least the two latter on his debut album from 2006 (!!). While I have heard of this Torontonian artist in the past, now that I take the time, I realize this experience should have taken place much earlier than now...shame on me. For I, the Slowcoustic guy, the guy who says this hushed music is what he is about, and I go and miss a nice little album of whispered lamenting turned to music. This is just the stuff that leads me to [...]

myspace We are trying to showcase most of the bands for this year's Sappyfest, especially since we are making the effort to head down and beat the heat in the lovely town of Sackville. We've covered almost every act on the Sunday docket, but remarkably, we've neglected to talk about Woolly Leaves . Who the hell is that you might ask? Well, Woolly Leaves is the stripped down, acoustic project of The Constantines keyboard man, Will Kidman . The songs he writes are about as different as you can get from the [...]

There haven't been many posts here for a couple of reasons, or more, but the one which actually saddens me is the fact that I haven't heard anything new which has remotely excited me. I've even found myself listening to songs from bands that roamed the earth years ago, decades ago . This isn't typical of me at all, I'm always seeking something new, a new favourite song, or artist, and when I find something which I like I often share it with Sixeyes readers, hoping against hope that that one little post by little old me will start [...]
"Jaan Pehechaan Ho" Ever since seeing the film Ghost World I've loved this song by Mohammed Rafi. The film opens with the main character dancing to "Jaan Pehechaan Ho" while we see the scene featuring this song from the 1965 Bollywood film Gumnaam , a film billed as 'India's first suspense thriller'. According to wikipedia the song's title, "Jaan Pehechaan Ho", is Hindi for 'we should get to know each other' . mohammed rafi jaan [...]

photo by Kevin Parnell from the 2005 Wavelengths Music Series As great as the first Apostle of Hustle show at the Grad Club was (and it was really, really great) this Saturday's show could very well top it. Not only will AoH be settling into their new material and have a few more shows under their belt, but the opening act will be fantastic Woolly Leaves . Woolly Leaves is the work of Will Kidman of Constantines fame (yeah, I know, I fell in to the trap where anyone who mentions Woolly [...]
Woolly Leaves is a side-project of Constantines keyboardist, Will Kidman. A quiet lo-fi bedroom recording done with skill and talent, and none of the trepidation you might expect from one who spends their time in a band led by a powerful writer and performer like Constantines singer, Bry Webb, and who often does his work in the shadows of the stage. Kidman's voice carries a slight quaver similar
