Critically acclaimed AMC's Breaking Bad is a gripping drama following the life of Walter White (Bryan Cranston), an overqualified high school chemistry teacher turned meth cook. When stricken with terminal lung cancer and in search of a way to make sure his family will be financially secure without him, he turns to his former student Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) to enter a new business of cooking the highest quality meth around. Not only is Breaking Bad brimming with what could be considered as some of TV's best acting, it is accompanied by a top-notch soundtrack that wraps [...]

Manchurian shoegazers, Working For A Nuclear Free City have just posted an epic free download and a new single. Below you can find a free download via the band's soundcloud page and on their bandcamp page , you can purchase their latest single, Turning Shadow. The former, exhibits snippets of every style in which WFANFC dabbles and the latter, a solid wave of sound reminiscent of their acclaimed and highly underrated debut, Businessmen and Ghosts. It seems details are slowly emerging about the band's follow-up to last year's sprawling release, Jojo Burger Tempest. Download: A-P-O-P-T-O-S-I-S [MP3]
Rain On A River is the debut release of Mike Smalle, aka B Movie Lightning. This self-recorded album blends multiple formats & genres into catchy, drone-pop, shoegaze tracks. He hits the same vein as Working For A Nuclear Free City, never adhering to one sound or style in particular from track to track. Here's my [...]
Starting a new feature here. We asked on the facebook page for people to send in beats and we got a great response. Here are three jams that Patrick Gargan from the Naval Academy was nice enough to send our way. I hadn't heard any of these before, so hopefully that is true for the rest of the audience as well. Want to be featured on BGB? Send us song(s) and we will happily post them for your peers to enjoy, shout you out to the blogosphere, and earn some street [...]

Although 'Jojo Burger Tempest' is not the debut album from Manchester group, Working For A Nuclear Free City , it is my first introduction to them. I heard one of their tracks, "Black Rivers", on a college radio station and made sure to stick around (in my car) long enough to catch their name. After spending some time with 'Jojo Burger Tempest', which is a double disc thanks to the 30 minute title track, I have certainly taken a liking to a few tracks in particular..."Pachinko", "B.A.R.R.Y.", "Little Lenin", and a couple others. I prefer the [...]
Given the volume of music available for consideration on One Track Mind, we invariably have to pass on a lot of tasty morsels. [tweetmeme] In a desire to share even more great, free music with you, the Sunday Sampler offers a handful of tracks without the usual critical and biographical write-up. Less talk, more tunes. Gospel Claws "Summer Nights Lakeside" from C - L - A - W - S [ released [...]
Here's an mp3 from Manchester band Working for a Nuclear Free City , described on their press sheets as "the UK's finest electronic post-rock band". I'll leave the superlatives up to you to decide. In case you haven't heard their second album 'The Jojo Burger Tempest' released in September, have a listen to the decidedly wonderfully crunchy 'Alphaville' below as a taster, which you can also download. MP3 : Working for a Nuclear Free City - Alphaville [See post to listen to audio]

I'm going to go ahead and do something I rarely ever do here (and I'm not talking about ending a sentence/post title with a preposition, because I do that all the time), and that's write a lot about a band that I really think is for no good reason completely underappreciated. Maybe it's just a lack of visibility, but if you were to ask me about one of the more original bands out there today that hardly anyone is listening to (or if they are listening to them, they certainly aren't talking about them), I would almost undoubtedly respondread more [...]
Decidely shoegazey with swirling textures, bubbling electronics and haunting choruses, "Alphaville" sounds like a distinct ecosystem captured in digital sound. England's Working for a Nuclear Free City worked on their new album The Jojo Burger Tempest from a British warehouse and a French cottage and, over the course of just a few days, came up with 2,800 song ideas, so they say. The latest evidence of this prolific streak of electronic rock goodness is "Alphaville", the record's second single. Decidely shoegazey with swirling textures, bubbling electronics and haunting choruses, "Alphaville" sounds like a distinct ecosystem...

We brought you the track "Secret Things" a few weeks back from the upcoming album by Motorifik , the side project from one of the chaps in Working for a Nuclear Free City . Now we have a new jam to bring you today, which is a lot more bright, at least when the lyrics come into play. The band's album Secret Things comes out on November 9th, and there is definitely a nice bit of differentiations between all the tracks, making it a record to spin over [...]

For several years I've been enjoying the last Working for a Nuclear Free City album, and now that they have their new album heading our way, I've been devouring everything the group's been onto. Luckily, I stumbled across this new track from Motorifik , which is the side-project of WfNFC songwriter Phil Kay and Idrisse Khelifi. The duo's new work Secret Things will hit stores on November 9th. This track shows their dense wash of melodic noise, juxtaposed with deep, cool [...]

"...an album should be a document of what a band has been doing over a certain period of time. And almost everything should be included. Like it or not." So said Gary McClure of Working for a Nuclear Free City in a memorable quote that has been doing the rounds recently. The eclectic Manchester band has taken this mantra to heart on their third album, the inclusion of "almost everything" resulting in Jojo Burger Tempest clocking in barely under the length of a football match - mercifully minus half time. But that does not mean that the record is a messy affair. [...]
Kurt and Erin of Overcasters join us for Episode 76 and to give the world it's first taste of their new Rick Parker produced album, The Whole Sea Is Raging. Also, we've got an interview Mike Kirschmann, Eric Lowe, Nick White and Jimmy Image of The Christines and (somewhat) of Hot Robots to fill us in with what's new with their bands. L to R:Eric Lowe, [...]
Working For A Nuclear Free City have always been one of those bands that is either absolutely brilliant or absolutely forgettable. That said, I will gladly give them credit for the gems they have created and they are mostly beard and mustache free... so that already puts them in the 80th percentile globally. Being from Manchester & label mates of The Soundcarriers and Standard Fare doesn't hurt either. WFANFC are releasing a new album on Oct. 12 called Jojo Burger Tempest on Melodic . You can download the first Single, Silent Times, right here... right now! [...]

English band Working For a Nuclear Free City have details of a new sophomore album with new digital single hitting the internet news wire. New album, The Jojo Burger Tempest , will see the light of day on October 12th via Melodic Records . Similar to their debut LP, the upcoming joint will be a debut album effort which the band is calling "epic". Below you'll find a tune called "Silent Times" from the new album. Download: Working for a Nuclear Free City - Silent Times [MP3]

Working For A Nuclear Free City - B.A.R.R.Y Working For A Nuclear Free City - Do A Stunt Working For A Nuclear Free City - Little Lenin We try not to do stuff like this but I'm completely out of time and can't concoct some lil' paragraph of descriptive BS... So, I'm just gonna drop some tracks and some quotes, and continue the parade of halfheartedness instead . [...]
