Am I the only nerd who gets really annoyed when people misuse the phrase "winter of our discontent"? It doesn't mean that things are fucking sad, assholes. Winter = END, therefore the phrase means "now is the end of our unhappiness". All the bullshit was made into a glorious summer, and everything got totally awesome. What don't you get about that? While we're at it, "wherefore art thou" means "why are you", as in "Romeo, oh Romeo, why the fuck do you gots to be Romeo? Shit would be mad easier if you wasn't." Now that I've [...]
Matinée records have been hyperactive on the release-front lately, and it's been both a very pleasant and a tough experience to digest four new albums in one go from the quality-label. I've been looking forward to these releases, - all of them from bands I have really enjoyed previous records from, - and some from bands I may even be willing to call myself a fan of. I've listened and enjoyed, and here is my comments on two of the four new releases from the label. Today, I'll give you Bubblegum Lemonade and [...]
Alms for ArmsThanks for visiting. The High Llamas - Snow White mp3 - I frankly don't know where I came across this, but that doesn't stop me from loving it. Click band name for info and more. Wouldn't it be good to be in your shoes, even if it was for just one day . So sang wee Nik Kershaw on his 1984 hit single, surprisingly entitled Wouldn't It Be Good . But would it though, really? I mean, I can't say for sure if Nik was addressing me directly on this song (although he probably was), but if so I'm afraid his reverie would have turned out to be nothing more than a massive anti-climax, had it ever been realised. Let me explain. Being a relatively lanky six-feet tall I take [...]

A Matinee Press Release: Highly anticipated fifth album 'Eventyr' from revered London quartet Would-Be-Goods is released 20 years after the classic debut album 'The Camera Loves Me' on '80s cult label él Records. It is their third album for Matinée Recordings, after the well received 'Brief Lives' (2002) and 'The Morning After' (2004). "Sad stories are more beautiful" sings Jessica Griffin on the opening track, and those words could be the motto for the album as most of its songs are inspired by folk tales—timeless archetypal stories composed [...]

Am I excited or what? One of my absolute favourite bands has a new album out these days, Would-Be-Goods . The title sound strangely familiar, "Eventyr", which is Norwegian and Danish for "Fairy Tale"."Eventyr" is released 20 years after their debut album "The Camera Loves Me" on él records, and it is their third album on Matinée Recordings. Most of the songs on the album is inspired by folk tales, and the inspiration for the Scandinavian title came from the title of the Danish fairy tale writer Hans Christian Andersen's classic collection of stories. [...]
My original plan for tonight was to go to Albertslund (outskirts of Copenhagen) to finally get a chance to see Entakt in concert. However my daughter has been invited to a Halloween party, so my role for tonight has (with or without my acceptance) been changed from concertgoer to chauffeur. I guess as long as one knows ones position in the hierarchy, one is not going to get disappointed about such things. I will try (try? no way! I'll be there!) to attend the concert in Vanløse on December 4 [...]
