Richmond, Virginia's Wrinkle Neck Mules have a new record by the name of Apprentice to Ghosts . The vocals and music at times bring to mind the rustic organics of Walter Salas-Humara and the Silos. See what you think with a listen to "Leaving Chattanooga" from the album. http://wrinkleneckmules.com/

wrinkle neck mules , one of the more interesting band names i have come across recently, has a new record, apprentice to ghosts , which came out on the 21st of last month. i have not heard the entire thing, but i really, really dig this little twangy ditty. they've been around for like 12 years and have released 5 years, and much like american aquarium, they're now just coming into my realm of consciousness? has anyone heard of these guys, or any of their records? i am definitely intrigued. the record came out on lower 40 , [...]

We're trying to juggle a few plates at the moment, so can't do full justice to these tunes other than to say all are worth some of your time. The obvious answer was a straightforward Friday afternoon mix. After all there is absolutely no point in starting anything new in the office now, so download this mix, stick a complicated spreadsheet up on your screen and stare intently at it while giving these a blast on the earmuffs. Download The Cribs - Chi-Town mp3 (from Chi-Town) Download Sun Kil-Moon - [...]

![Wrinkle Neck Mules – Let The Lead Fly [Album Review]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/2221749_lg.jpg)
Let The Lead Fly is one of those albums that deserves to be on our Best Albums of 2009 list, but we grabbed it a bit too late. While the Wrinkle Neck Mules seem to go to a more a traditional country sound, this album is far from uninspired or unoriginal. As long as Andy Stepanian and Chase Heard are leading the charge, we needn't worry about the quality of work from this underrated bande. In an interview on American Songwriter, Heard had this to say: Let the Lead Fly was created [...]

Wrinkle Neck Mules Back in February , on the eve of the Wrinkle Neck Mules' last Charlottesville concert appearance, I told you to be on the lookout later for the possibility of two new albums from the Mules in 2009. And while I'm not sure that both of those promised records will be released before year's end, I can at least report that one of them is currently in works...and that alone is reason for celebration. [...]

We're back with another podcast. This month features a couple of tracks from the upcoming Evan Phillips benefit album , as well as a track from the upcoming Joey Allcorn album All Alone Again . Evan Phillips is the front man for one of my favorite new rock and roll bands, The Whipsaws , as well as a member of the trio E.S.P. , with Tim Easton and Leeroy Stagger . Seven years ago he suffered an injury while climbing a mountain in California and had surgery to try [...]

To be honest I can't remember the last time the Wrinkle Neck Mules last played in Charlottesville. A year and a half, maybe two years ago? Either way, it's been too damn long! Luckily that's all about to change as the Mules return to Charlottesville tomorrow night (Saturday, February 21) for a long overdue show at the Gravity Lounge where they'll be sharing the bill with Charlottesville's own 6 Day Bender . As bad luck would have it, I'm [...]
