Elusive Manchester buzz band World Unite/Lucifer Youth Foundation or WU LYF to their friends are set to release their eagerly anticipated debut album ' Go Tell Fire To The Mountain ' on June 13 th . Introducing their self released album WU LYF have just set off on a worldwide tour and have been dropping video previews including the above frenzied video for ‘Dirt’, filmed predominantly at the London student tuition fee protests and ensuing riots. Rasping yet soulful vocals from Ellery Roberts howl almost incomprehensibly like an anarchist call to arms over the mysterious, dark [...]
A weekly feature in which our writers share their favourite tracks of the week. Maria Minerva - 'Hop Hop Gone In Spring' (chosen by Daniel Harrison) LA's Not Not Fun label have been responsible for some fantastic music recently (Peaking Lights, Sun Araw, LA Vampires/Matrix Metals), and bedroom musician Maria Minerva continues the trend. Tallinn at Dawn is the excellent follow-up to her Noble Savage 123, and one of the standout tracks is 'Hop Hop Gone in Spring', a blissful mix of shimmering synths and layered, sensual vocals. [...]
For the last year, the enigmatic Manchester band WU LYF (World Unite Lucifer Youth Foundation) has garnered an astounding amount of hype based almost entirely on anonymity. This foursome of twenty-somethings has attracted this attention in bizarre fashion: band photos with members' faces obscured by white bandanas and clouds of smoke, strange cross emblems, cryptic messages on their twitter page, odd photo collages on their website , a cult-like manifesto, a music-less myspace page rife with hidden messages. They've, in essence, created an extremely effective marketing campaign by shirking the obvious channels of self-promotion. Are they young visionaries? Or [...]
WU LYF hail from Manchester and have been garnering plenty of attention over the past year from press and labels alike. Having shunned signing with any of the latter, they are set to self-release their debut album Go Tell Fire To The Mountain. Exuding a mixture of infectious pop with a hard edge, the track 'Dirt' exemplifies both of these elements and its accompanying video gives you a definitive idea of where the band is coming from. Go Tell Fire To The Mountain is set for [...]
Hoog op de hip new music radar: WU LYF . Begin juni verschijnt hun debuutalbum Go Tell Fire To The Mountain en de verwachtingen zijn hoog gespannen.

In this day and age when so little is left to the imagination it’s strangely satisfying to stumble across something so mysteriously obscure. WU LYF from Machester in northern England are exactly that; a four piece band who have turned down record label offers and press interviews in equal measure to let the growing hype consume itself. They’ve gone about their project in such an intelligent manner, I wouldn’t be surprised if these kids were marketing majors! Their debut album, Go Tell Fire To The Mountain , was recorded [...]
I love coming late to the party. Discovering a band months after everyone else already fell in love with them means that there's usually a whole body of work out there to discover. And Jesus Fucking Christ is there a lot to discover about WU LYF (World Unit/Lucifer Youth Foundation), a Manchester crew of DIY geniuses whose membership ranks shrink and swell with their needs. Their website is a sprawling document carefully crafted to give you a lot of information, most of which doesn't quite answer the questions that drove you there in the first place. By [...]
We've got new videos from Rihanna, UNKLE, The Grates, and WU LYF this week. I especially like the Ford & Lopatin video because it's the human version of those Friskies ads . The ones where the cat hallucinates and believes that turkeys, fish, and other edibles worship cats like gods? They'd make really good Animal Collective videos. Watch this week's selections: Read More...
Wu Lyf 's star has been rising by leaps and bounds as of late. The Manchester band have released to the wild their song 'Dirt' (video below) as a taster to their album to come out on the 13th of June, 'Go Tell Fire of the Mountain' (a cheeky dig at the Christian spiritual 'Go Tell It on the Mountain', perhaps?) The album is being released on their own Lyf Recording label. Matt Wilkinson of NME is already a massive fan , dubbing them "fucking amazing": time will tell where and how high this band [...]

Lucky fans in LA and NY will come July be able to witness live the haunting and huge sounds of Manchester's most recent and treasured export, Wu Lyf . We've had a few tastes of what's to come from these boys, and it's all building up to the release of their debut album Go Tell Fire To The Mountain. In the UK the album will be available from June 13th on the bands very own L Y F Recordings but oversees you'll need to wait until August 22nd to get your hands on [...]
There are some truly wonderful moments of music on WU LYF's debut album Go Tell Fire To The Mountain . There are also some grating moments: is there really a need for the vocals to be that gruff and unintelligible? 'Dirt' pretty much encapsulates the band's debut in that regard, you actually need subtitles to understand what singer Ellery Roberts is saying. But when the crenscendo hits, Roberts, (who also plays organ) along with Tom McClung (bass), Joseph Manning (drums) and Evans Kati (guitar) come together in musical unison, WU LYF are anything but a gimmick. [...]
Wu Lyf - Dirt Check out some nice tunes on there webpage .
We have a mad band crush on Manchester's WU LYF (World Unite! Lucifer Youth Foundation) for a minute. I've been working on the railroad shucking and jiving to whatever little I could find for the past 2 years or so (V▲GINA WOLF , demos.. etc..) and it appears happy days are here! They are dropping a full length on June 13th! Heel clicks and golf claps! I wasn't really sure about it when I first strapped on the jammy pack.. butthen... I couldn't drag my ears away. The vox is angry birds addicting. I [...]
Manchesters anonymous Wu Lyf just posted a video for their latest song 'Dirt' last week which drops their album title, 'Go Tell Fire To The Mountain', in its lyrics. The track is expectedly epic, with obscure screams that only rival one of my favourite tracks from them 'Heavy Pop.' Wu Lyf are one for doing things slightly different to others. Good thing the music is quality. As proven with this weeks 'Track of the week' the song was recorded in a church, the natural ambiance creates such a great feel to the song. [...]
Probably one of my favorite music video to come out this year is by Manchester band, WU LYF. WU LYF stands for World Unite Lucifer Youth Foundation. The video for 'Dirt' features footage...
Manchester based WU LYF once more uphold their reputation as being extremely mysterious, but musically brilliant. The dramatic vocals of their new track «Dirt» , mixed with floating organ tones, go perfect with the video, which contains explosive footage of the riots in the UK last year. There's no mp3 available yet, but the band's debut album Go Tell Fire To The Mountain finally comes on June 13! ___ Already posted: L Y F
