It sounds a lot like Royal Thunder -- save for the tuba, of course. The post Listen to Wye Oak's Awesome Non-Metal Cover of Danzig's "Mother" appeared first on MetalSucks .

Believe it or not, Mad Mackerel has been around for more than five years now. During that time we’ve posted more than 4,000 times, and offered more than 5,000 songs for your listening pleasure. And more than three quarters of a million people have paid MM a visit during our lifetime on Google’s (godawful) blogspot and since April 2010 on WordPress. We asked some of the regular MM contributors to give us their top twenty songs since MM first went live and we’re also going to give you one big mega-listing shortly, first up was Dr Roddy [...]

You haven't always been able to hear it in the actual music that comes out of the city, but Baltimore's DIY-heavy indie rock scene has always been a beautifully unsnobby and pop-happy sort of place. I haven't lived there in nearly eight years, and haven't spent nearly enough time there since I moved out, but I cherish memories of Baltimore as a place where you'd argue the merits of Three 6 Mafia deep cuts between bands at, like, an Out Hud show. When the rest of the indie world was still proudly ignorant about rap or pop music, Baltimore indie [...]

I was surfing around the internet earlier looking for some laid back tunes to end the weekend on a good note when I stumbled across this chill track from Waxahatchee entitled "Brother Bryan" that immediately caught my ear. The song just has this real downtrodden vibe to it that manages to lull you along, when suddenly it stops, and leaves you craving more. Almost like reading a story that ends right as it piques your interest. And you gotta love it when a song does that to you. Also, there's like this Wye Oak [...]

Late last year Jenn Wasner, member of Wye Oak and Flock Of Dimes , revealed her poppy indie venture Dungeonesse and the instantly-likable " Drive You Crazy ." In the months since the single release, the duo of Wasner and Jon Ehrens released " Shucks " and the new "Nightlight." The latter of which succeeds with touch-and-go '80s synths and Wasner's aching earnestness. Check out "Nightlight" below and grab the duo's upcoming self-titled debut album May 14 via Secretly Canadian .

One half of Baltimore folk duo Wye Oak , Jenn Wasner is set to release her first album as Dungeonesse . This new project sees the singer hook up with prolific multi-instrumentalist Jon Ehrens . They are set to release their debut LP via Secretly Canadian on 13 May (UK)/14 May (U.S). Before then, however, you can check out the electro-pop/R&B-leaning 'Shucks' below:
Last time we checked in with Wye Oak's Jenn Wasner and White Life's Jon Ehrens, they were giving us a taste of their new pop project Dungeonesse with their first track "Drive You Crazy" which was a bit of a spastic pop-glitch number that was pretty good. But now they truly show their cards with the fantastic "Shucks", which shows the duo going for a full on snyth-R&B-love-jam that wouldn't be out of place at a 1997 prom or a 2013 3AM afterparty. (the album is out 5/14)

Wye Oak's Jenn Wasner has announced details of a new album as Dungeonesse , which sees her team up with John Ehrens of Art Department and White Life. Tweet Today has been a big day for Team SGTMT . It started as every day does; we sat down in the canteen for a communal team breakfast before joining hands and reciting The SGTMT Motivational Mantra . For a change, instead of getting straight down to work we decided we'd go for a run (our health kick survived Christmas and is still going strong). So, kitted up in our freshly laundered and pressed Team SGTMT official branded sportswear (coming soon to a stockist near you), [...]
