Xavier Rudd, one of the world's finest Roots artist headlined last weekend's Peats Ridge Festival in the Victorian outback of Australia. The fans were treated as always to a union of nature and peaceful music while in this instance he shared a new song from his upcoming 2012 album, Spirit Bird. He is planning a world tour this year to launch his new album. If you haven't had a chance to "experience" his music in person, do not hesitate to make this a show to attend this year. He's one of a kind and his show's are some of the [...]
![[Folk] Xavier Rudd – Messages](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3903156_lg.jpg)
Australian songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Xavier Rudd has been around for a while now, and is one of the main players on the world music festival scene. His songs are folky and often feature Aboriginal influences such as the didgeridoo. 'Messages' is a soft ballad with some gorgeous female BVs which work perfectly with Rudd's vocals. This is a classic from Rudd, and features on his record 'Food In The Belly'. Xavier Rudd - Messages Download audio file (messages.mp3) [via The New Lofi ]

Dead Confederate's Hardy Morris at the Hangout Music Festival on May 21, 2011 I was gonna give you guys a well written, healthy-sized wrap-up of today's rad shows, but I just endured the world's longest dinner with the world's least attentive waiter. I am exhausted and full of crab. So here's the happs, in bulleted form: *Xavier Rudd has always been jammy, but he has a nice electronica touch in his recent work, pleasing both the hippies and the rave kids. *Georgia group Dead Confederate was the find of the day. Blistering, [...]
The weather was ideal, there was a beer truck tapped with New Belgium Brewery's Beers (among others), and the artists delivered. Yes, 'twas such a good time at the 2011 McDowell Mountain Music Festival , that I think that, over a week later, I've finally fully recovered. Of the three days of music on the main stage, I missed only one band - Friday's opener Paper Snowmen. Sorry Paper Snowmen, I'll make it up to you somehow. Day One [...]

This was my first time seeing Xavier Rudd and I have to say I was blown away. What a showman and talent. I honestly don't think there are many acts who can pull off a performance at the level of Xavier Rudd. His music has a lot of heart and that def comes across in his live show. Xavier plays multiple instruments throughout the show including the guitar, the didgeridoo, the drums and the slide banjo which I accidentally refereed to as the sitar [...]

Baltimore - Why do I lump reviews together? Well, it's certainly not due to a lack of thoughts on each topic/section. Heck, if you let me, I could probably ramble on and relate chocolate chip cookies directly to a contrabass saxophone. Somehow. Just like why I decided to write about all 3 in one review - because they relate together for me. I had never heard of Colin Stetson and Amy LaVere before the concerts. But I have heard of NPR (in fact I am probably a [...]

In a brave new world where vintage Americana has helped the likes of Mumford & Sons and the Avett Brothers achieve headliner status, Los Angeles duo Honeyhoney ought to be rising stars. And maybe they will be, once fans get their ears around "Billy Jack," the sophomore album from the duo of Suzanne Santo and Ben Jaffe. ||| Download: "Ohio" Honeyhoney introduced their distinctive strain of folk, bluegrass, jazz, soul and pop with the 2009 album "First Rodeo," [...]

Longtime HT faves the Felice Brothers have announced the details for the first round of 2011 tour dates. The upstate New York-based act will kick things off with a high profile appearance at SXSW on March 19, where they will play a showcase gig at the Auditorium Shores, that will feature Bright Eyes, Man Man and Middle Brother. The band will then head out for a cross-country headlining run, which will include their debut performance at Coachella, as well as their first-ever tour down under with dates scheduled in New Zealand and Australia. [...]

Mojo Filter is a pretty trippy dude from London, England. He produces a lot of experimental work and remixes classic rock artists. Any deadhead from across the atlantic is okay in my book. Both of these remixes are worth a listen. Scope the rest of his work on his website . Xavier Rudd- Food in the Belly (Mojo Filter Edit) Steve Miller Band- Fly Like an Eagle (Mojo Filter Edit0 [...]

Amidst all the negative press and energy due to this past weekend's tragedy in Tucson, it was refreshing to come across a very nice lineup announcement today from the Phoenix-area McDowell Mountain Music Festival , taking place in late April / early May. Last year came the news that the venue would change from the green, expansive Westworld complex to a parking lot adjacent to north Scottsdale's Compound Grill . While the idea took some getting used to initially, the resulting lot festival was intimate and a whole lotta fun. There was green [...]

It's that time again! Following are my Top 25 Albums of 2010. Like 'em or not, these are the albums I've personally enjoyed and listened to most often in the past year. Click on the album titles to read the full reviews, purchase the albums, and, in some cases, download mp3s… *Honorable mention to Florence + the Machine's Lungs , which would have been #2 on this list had it been released this year. A few days before my last post we pulled up stakes and moved. It was only about 120 blocks south of where we lived but it's true what they say: 120 blocks could be 120 thousand miles; you still have to pack. A few days after we moved, my Mom came to visit. Therein lies the reason why there's been so little activity here at F45 for the past few weeks. Been a lot of musical activity, though. The new place warranted a new (and smaller) piano, so my boy is now playing a Charles Walters upright instead [...]
