Canadian bass producer XI has just announced the release of his brand new EP for New Kanada . Entitled 'NK342, the new record sees XI (born Christian Andersen) take an almost shoegaze approach to production. In anticipation of the new release XI has made a non-EP track available for free download. The new track, 'Glythe' (which you can find at the bottom) is brimming over with fuzzy distortion, underpinning an otherworldly melody. Not exactly a stomping club-banger, rather a tastefully crafted piece of electronica for the post-party cool down. [...]

[New Kanada] I've begun to rely on Adam Marshall - and, to a lesser extent, New Kanada itself - for unconventional house and techno. Given that they're usually functional, Marshall's tracks could hardly be called experimental, and yet they often hit fresh combinations anyway. NK33 doesn't buck the trend, offering five slightly off-center cuts. The first, "Bass Tracking" is a four-minute sketch which may indeed find you "tracking" the low end. Rather than simply swinging back and forth [...]

Zeds Dead is spreading like a plague. More and more by the day they become a household name, as they should. They take electro and dubstep and all sorts of bass music and smash it together with their own twist for very unique music and live shows that most of you can't get enough of. I feel like every new Zeds track sound like completely unlike anything I've ever heard. Scope their Adrenaline EP if you missed it, as well the seriously must hear TSIS Premiere Divine (Danger Remix) (Zeds Dead Re-Remix) . Well this [...]

Moving yet further away from his Dubstep roots, XI (or one half of Loetech alongside Bombaman) recently released his new 123, 'Immunity' b/w 'Squeeze' for the nascent Orca imprint. The two tracks featured on the release focus on the darker end of the disjointed Garage/Funky sounds, spacing the production out to let things breathe a bit. Having said that, 'Squeeze' does jack the tempo up a notch with staccato vocal stabs and pronounced synths. 'Immunity' / 'Squeeze' is out now via Orca. Tagged: [...]

Eprom - Twerkul8 *FTNT013 SURREAL ESTATE Compilation 10/4/11* by fritenite Frite Nite , an SF label/collective specializing in forward-thinking electronic music, recently released its first compilation, Surreal Estate . The 17-song set collects tracks from Frite Nite acts like Salva and Eprom as well as from artists, local and not, who share the label's out-there bass vibe. To celebrate the comp's release, Frite Nite's artists are performing en masse at the Mezzanine on October 22nd. Take [...]
![Air Jordan 11 Concord Socks [Fashion]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3788952_lg.jpg)
Guaranteed many of you won't be getting your hands on a pair of Concords this year, but if you're ok with not spending almost 400 bucks, waiting in like for a full day, or hoping to get the last click on eBay, then maybe copping a pair of these socks will do the trick. The sock design is pretty close to the actual shoe, even with the sole design on the bottom of the sock. I'd definitely snag a pair of these and enjoy rocking em' in a pair of jordan flip-flops, but that's only if I can't get my [...]

[Hotflush Recordings] With all the justified hubbub and excitement around Machinedrum and his fantastic album Room(s) this year, it's easy to forget that he's one half of Hotflush duo Sepalcure. Which is why this after the fact remix EP makes for a good reminder, a little bit of "don't forget about us" as the duo wrap up work on their promised debut album. Based around the first EP they released [...]
Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News , Exclusive , RPM C Flanigan, Getty Images "This year the scene just blew up," Ryan Krugman, co-founder and promoter of Southern Ontario's World Electronic Music Festival (WEMF), tells Spinner. Established in 1995, the three-day outdoor festival was held annually in varying picturesque locations around the Canadian province until 2008. "We'd gotten to a point when we were just getting tired and wanted to do something different," explains Krugman. [...]
A lot of things kept me from posting the last few weeks. I've seen some great dj-sets at Dour Festival last week by Camo & Krooked, Original Sin, Rusko, Doctor P, Bassnectar and many, many more... But I'm back with another Dubstep Round Up ! Hitz featuring Tinie Tempah is the latest single off "No More Idols" and has 4 official remixes. 16bit really destroyed the tune (in a good way)! Also be sure to check out the drum & bass remix by Delta Heavy. Buy the remix EP here . [...]

This week has been a fairly relaxed one, I've found my time divided between welcoming back a tanned girlfriend from holiday (incredibly jealous as I remain hideously pale), working (selling pizzas, it's a glamorous life) and playing football (with a lot of enthusiasm but not much comparable skill). Aside from all that, there have been some interesting developments in the musical world that have caught my attention, and I wilsl delight in sharing with you lovely people. Track Of The Week: Far Too Loud – Wake [...]
Filed under: Exclusive , Northern Exposure Courtesy of 2+2 Management Dubstep may seem like the buzzworthy genre du jour, but Toronto producer Christian Andersen, aka XI, was helping introduce the sinewy, bass-heavy sound to North American ears since the mid-2000s, moving from an early drum 'n' bass style to the darker, more experimental take on bass-driven music that's come to represent the dubstep vibe. Known for hosting Toronto's popular monthly Subtrac parties as well as [...]

The ever busy Andy Leary, 1 half of Relation who has a side project Laserdisco returns with another new project called The Low Behold . This time, it's with Lisa Lorenz who has done vocals for Toronto's XI , a dub / bass producer who has been featured on this blog last year (you can still download some stuff off there. He's got some stuff out via a label down in Bristol). On first listen, Signs , from the band's new EP sounds the most promising out of the tracks. It's [...]

Right, we've finally got the podcast scheduling back on track, with an unspeakably good mix from dubstep hero, Bombaman . As one half of dubstep pioneers, Loetech, Bombaman is one of the most important producers in the scene alongside the mighty XI. They've crafted a slew of classics together, but it's under his own moniker, Bombaman, that he's really come into his own. The 'mmeelloo ssttaarr' EP on Nightshifters stormed the internet earlier this year, and nearly broke it! Expect that tune to purvade the airwaves for some time this year. [...]

01. Hercules & Love Affair, "My House" [Mochi Mochi Recordings] ( buy ) Although Hercules & Love Affair is best known as a disco group, Andrew Butler often worked elements of influential American house music into their songs. In fact the band's first single since 2008 is the spiritual successor to their charged Chicago house track, "You Belong." "My House" seems to inch forward in time to the late '80s and early '90s and integrates touches of a New York sound in its Windy City foundation. Its mellifluous bass and dexterous percussion form [...]
