If you aren't aware, Kaskade has been crossing the country on his Its You Its Me Redux tour, a set of nine intimate, deep shows at small venues (the last of which is tonight in San Diego) to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of his debut album of the same name back in 2003. LA's Shoe Scene Symphony , feeling nostalgic, decided to take the title track for a spin and ended up creating something truly amazing. They've really done it justice, mixing in a groovy percussion beat and adding light dashes of progressive melodies, [...]
As delicious as the scent of an over-the-garden BBQ wafting through the airy skies, London’s Eluusif and L.A.’s Dr. Fresch introduce us to more Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo cooking recipes. Both these guys make Daft Punk sound golden brown. DAFT PUNK x ELUUSIF - Harder Better Around The World (Eluusif Mashup) DR. FRESCH BONUS!
Los Angeles band Y Luv's EP It Doesn't Have To Make Sense just got an electronic makeover from LA-based electronic label Prep School Recordings . The original EP was the second release from the pop-rock band, and has been given a full electronic rework almost six months since it debuted last September. All five of the original EP's tunes have been retooled by different Prep School producers, resulting in an excursion through various EDM genres including nu-disco, electro, and progressive house. While much of the instrumentation from the original tracks have been [...]

The talented folks over at Prep School Recordings are at it once again. They have now teamed up with an exciting Los Angeles-based indie rock band Y LUV to release an exclusive remix EP of It Doesn't Have To Make Sense - which features a diverse range of electronic sound from such up-and-comers as Clinton VanSciver , Sound Remedy , Shoe Scene Symphony , Dr. Fresch , and Mike Neptune . New Sound Remedy, yes please! This new remix fresh in just has Sound Remedy all over it, with his classic chopped synth work, and beautiful vocal placements. A happy, upbeat tune. Love this, and I for one could not be happier to see Sound Remedy dropping such beautifully produced magic this often. Y LUV - [...]

I've done several posts on releases from LA-based Prep School Recordings and it really seems like their curation just keeps getting better and better. Y LUV first showed up on my radar when Clinton VanSciver remixed Driftin and now their EP, It Doesn't Make Sense, is getting the full remix treatment. The release features a variety of styles, ranging all the way from Dr. Fresch's progressive rework of If This Has An End to Sound Remedy's brilliant dubstep interpretation of The NOC . [...]

Sunday's second day of the Year of the Snake Lunar New Year Festival in Chinatown was a little more chill than the parade-filled first day, but there was plenty of energy on the local music stage, where random ninjas crashed the set by the taiko-drum-wielding Random Ninjas, young trio the Vim Dicta played a set of show-stealing psychedelic blues, Y LUV closed with an exuberant set of indie-pop, Drive He Said delivered a propulsive batch of Boss-like anthems and TM87 set the tone early with its sharp-edged rock. Same time next year? Or maybe sooner, since the local [...]

Y Luv keep a rock-solid pace even as they’re “Driftin” and we like it.
2012 began with me being lost in the proverbial music desert. I drifted from track to track with no real rhyme or reason. I longed for an album (like Fucked Up from 2011) that would just capture my attention and not let it go. On June 5th I got just that when The Japandroids' Celebration Rock came out. Through the summer I played this album religiously (not to mention loudly). Then fortune smiled upon me as, on October 9th, I got another album to capture me when Macklemore's The Heist hit the market. Along the way I [...]
Dwayne Carter Jr. is full of good lines but the following is hands down my favorite... If I die today it be a holiday..." If there's ever a moment in my life when my perspective is so off or I'm doing something so terribly against my true nature that makes me feel otherwise then there's something wrong. Life is too short to be dishonest with yourself or others and nothing matters that much to put up with bullshit from anyone . I'm lucky to have music, [...]

Great musical pairings are hard to come by.. . Not every collaboration lives up to the hype. Thankfully, we know how well Y LUV and Gazzo work together. This time Gazzo has got his hands on 'Driftin.' The lead track from Y LUV's recent ' It Doesn't Have To Make Sense' EP. Follow / [FACEBOOK] Listen / [BANDCAMP] / [SOUNDCLOUD] Other / [OFFICIAL SITE]

My friends over at recently-launched electro-house label, Prep School Recordings, sent over the first track off their upcoming Y Luv 'It Doesn't Have To Make Sense' remix EP and I've got to say that I'm impressed. I usually shy away from this sort of stuff, but this remix by Clinton VanSciver is just poppy and just technical enough to win me over. If you've been missing summertime house anthems then this is definitely up your alley. Download free here . Clinton VanSciver on: [...]
