Expectations are a tricky thing. We all have them, but sometimes we put the object of that affection on such a high pedestal that those expectations are bound to be disappointed no matter what the outcome. What's more, if you're one of the lucky few that are constantly gratified by those expectations being met, you begin to lose the innocence and joy of life's variability. You become dull, as does everything around you. Most of us, especially with the music we love, demand too much of a future we can't see. Sometimes things work out, other times they don't, but [...]

Just happened to come across this album by Yeasayer which just "dropped" today in music stores/ iTunes . Its going to be one of those bands that is getting alot of buzz these days. I will never see live in concert during my lifetime and skip Ottawa. Please bear with me since I don't know that much of this band. Did some research on them on Wikipedia . That Odd Blood is their second album. That the band is from Brooklyn, New York and that their music has been [...]

Yay it's Tuesday! Another three days of work sucks, but at least there's some new music to listen to. I've been waiting to get my hands on Odd Blood (pictured above), the new Yeasayer album for some time now. You can get yourself a digital copy over at Amazon for only $3.99! Hot Chip releases One Life Stand today and despite the complete lack of hype they received this [...]

Just over a year ago, Animal Collective released an album that I noted was "a great balance between art and pop," a trend that continued thoughout 2009, the year that experimental indie bands began to embrace pop sentiments and make amazing albums. Without missing a beat, Yeasayer gives their own brilliant take on experimental and pop on what I'll say is thus far The Best Album of 2010. Odd Blood doesn't exist to be picked apart or analyzed heavily, so I'll do my best to do neither. The second album by the Brooklyn [...]

Fairly top heavy week this week with the new one from Yeasayer titled Odd Blood as well as the new Hot Chip record, One Life Stand, both of which promise to be some of the biggest ones so far this year. Check out the releases this week below, which ones are you snagging? Will Yeasayer be AOTY? Discuss. Odd Blood is currently available as a $3.99 digital download here . Also out today is Hot Chip's One Life Stand which was just given Best [...]

Who : Yeasayer Title : Oddblood Label : Secretly Canadian RIYL : Bear In Heaven, Grizzly Bear, Animal Collective, hippies Thoughts : When All Hour Cymbals was released we were pretty excited for this new band that was burning up everyone's ears thanks to the outstanding first single "2080". What we learned is that Yeasayer had made on perfect song and filled a record with a bunch of mediocre [...]

Getting pummeled by snow here in the Northeast makes me want to do one thing: buy things. It's my goal to bring you down with me. Below is this week's list of new releases in music and movies that get our full approval. If we've missed anything you loved, share it with us in the replies . It looks like another great week for new releases. The highlight for me this week was easily Yeasayer's Odd Blood . I think this is a great album and a worthy followup to their debut. The album might not be as instant, but with continued listens it will prove to be great. This I can guarantee. I can also recommend Massive Attack's Heligoland ( although P4k doesn't ). I mean it's freaking Massive Attack, they're not going to put out a shit album. To be honest [...]

By: David Schultz Two years ago, Yeasayer's debut album All Hour Cymbals had bloggers all atwitter in their usual state of excitement and at SXSW, every one of their numerous sets, including one at the NPR showcase, had lines streaming down West Sixth or Red River. They surely didn't rush back into the studio to capitalize on the success. Quite the opposite, they seemed to let the buzz fade

Recommended Show: TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 9, 2010 YEASAYER, JAVELIN, & CLASS ACTRESS @ MUSIC HALL OF WILLIAMSBURG 66 N 6th St Brooklyn, NY 11211 $18, 9PM I think this show may be sold out already (and with good reason). Three of the hippest bands around these days are filling out this bill. Undoubtedly, headliners Yeasayer are the big draw, but don't count out up and coming acts like Javelin and Class Actress from bringing a good crowd themselves. Nymph @ The Stone Mean Creek @ Maxwell's The [...]

While the single from Brooklyn's Yeasayer , "Ambling Alp" was great, and "Madder Red" equally cool, their latest Odd Blood is a letdown as a long player, the second half of the record goes in on Erasure and Pet Shop Boys like they simply ran out of their own ideas. Word is their live shows rock. shout out Off The Radar Yeasayer Sleigh Bells April 27th First Ave Yeasayer - "Ambling Alp (Alan Wilkis Remix)" -mp3 Yeasayer - "One (XXXchange)" -mp3
Massive Attack's Heligoland is my top pick for new albums out Tuesday, a big day for strong releases. I'm a little surprised at my own recommendation because I've never been a super huge fan of trip hop, but I can't stop listening to Heligoland . It's that good. I also recommend Yeasayer's Odd Blood and Hot Chip's One Life Stand . Girl I Love You (She is [...]
